The only real thing you listed was the shops OUTSIDE of capitals which I think could be interesting but why do you WANT to browse through hundreds of shops for that one item you are looking for? I used to play maplestory and it is a complete joke walking through each individual store...I cannot for the life of me think that that is what you truely want...



This is not fun...this is a backwards way of running an economy where you are unable to compare prices effectively creating huge opportunities for people to be ripped off.


I played FFXI and it had bazaars. Do you know how those worked? You could sell things on yourself. Which means to find the person with sword X, I had to not only catch him while he is online, I had to find him over the whole world.

How did this work out? Well, you had friends who told you about things you were looking for if they happened to find them. And you could contact the people and arrange a sale.

A few static shops I can check is nothing in comparison. And I can check them while I'm busy with other things and don't have time to raid around etc. Not only that, it sounds like they could buy things on their own for me.

And as a final word, do you think maplestory WITH an action house would have had the same problems with shops? I doubt it would, and your whole example becomes meaningless.

I like the idea of player shops, but not the way it was implemented in this game.

If they had it so that we could set up stalls....or something really neat. Like a fruit-stand, meat-stand - that kind of deali-o. I think it would be nice.
I feel that the pet shops take away from the game and sort of....make it seem like I'm in some cartoony F2P MMO.

I think if done right, and attractively, it might work.
But honestly, I am happy that they got rid of the pets.

Common sense should tell you threads that don't die, don't die for a reason. That reason is usually that it is an issue that EME needs to address and redo.

If I were running a company, I would at least make sure to have a discussion over any topic that passes 50 pages, since apparently it is a big deal for the community.

But you can always run the company like SquareEnix or EME, and only ever reply if the thread is about something you were going to do regardless, and someone just happened to make a thread on the right topic.

How does a thread that receives comments nearly every day warrant the "necro" label? Don't be silly/desperate.

If you're done with the discussion then just leave it, I guarantee it will go on just fine without you. If it'll help, we'll promise to miss you after you leave. :P

Or stay and participate. But if you're going to participate then participate, don't whine for the thread to be closed because you disagree with the direction the opinions have gone.

I support player shops and also the auction house. People make mistakes when sleepy... posting gear in player shops and I like to take advantage of that :P

It's appalling how empty and devoid of life Veika is now, looking at first few hours of EU's OBT.

As was expected (particularly looking at post-QoA broker in Korea) - AH remained as crappy as it was before - aside few additional search options and more slots ... Functionality provided only by shops completely gone (including more exotic/clever uses, such as vanarch's advert/baiting tool), with nasty side effects to come later. A little extra variety the game provided threw out of the window.

Silly wow monetary system only adds (ornamentally) to the damage, with values cluttering more space than they did before. Little of importance, but still amusing.

For the purpose of EU I've made a short summary of the "issues" discussed and tirelessly rebutted mostly by EdgeTO - they are as valid here as they are there - link.

Wake the hell up EnMasse. You have damn well working feature. Why do you castrate your own game ? Why do you ignore obvious side effects ? And you're doing it intendently in OBT, to make sure most new people to the game won't even know about their existence and implementation. At least designate some, or even 1 server where pet npcs won't be disabled.

Hopefully with launch they will finally close this thread.

EME decided to remove them and they offer nothing that makes them worth fighting for.
