I am glad to hear that said shops might be removed. Good decision to remove this garbage Eme, we have the Ah.

Much better to force the economy through a single exploitable hub of RMT currency generation. Makes it much easier for everyone. Especially people who like to price fix the market and bomb out the economy just to troll because they are bored with the game and don't care if they get banned or build a piss poor reputation.

Yeah getting rid of pet shops will really improve my play experience for sure. Cause we have an AH.

Well said, Sir. I tip my hat to you. Even though I already agreed with you. The most logical argument used so far.

put shops back... but restrict them to outside the city instead of inside
that way people won't get annoyed from them overcrowding npcs, plus it adds an adventuring aspect to finding good shops
like if you want to buy this for cheap, you have to prove your worth and fight your way through those mobs... otherwise no discount for you

I like the pet shops, and would like to see them stay in the game. They're a fun extra feature, and you can find betters deals on them sometimes than the AH.

I like pet shops, the thing is we aren't seeing their potential yet. Only at End Game when there are items you need to collect and people are selling these items near the NPC you turn them into are shops really cool.

It's nice to need X amount of a turn in, buy X amount from player shop and turn X amount into the NPC without walking more than a few steps. This gives people something to collect, buy, sell, trade and exchange conveniently. That, in my book, is a good thing. :P

I feel like there are two types of people in this thread: those who like player shops, and those who don't understand how player shops work. There are also a small number that seem to be on the fence pending some additional features, but I think that pretty much sums it up.

Those who don't have the wherewithal to change their UI Options
Those who are on the fence

Throw my support in for player shops. As many have said, it's about economy. It's a LOT harder to game the system when the system is in 1000 pieces, than if it's all lumped together.

I can't name a single MMO released in the past 12 years which hasn't had it's auction house exploited by players fixing prices at one time or another. Every MMO takes a hit to their economy in the first few months of release due to auction house exploitation, without exception. While Auction Houses certainly have their place in MMOs, player shops can also have a positive effect on the stability of the economy. Seems like EME isn't really willing to give them a fighting chance, even though they've been successful in KTERA, not to mention a host of other MMOs.

The sad thing is the same kind of person who would rely on trend data and market numbers rather than experience and practical knowledge is the same kind of person that will see any discontent over their decisions as a personal attack and will defend the most wildly idiotic ideas to the death in order to avoid losing face and admitting they were wrong.

I am getting a very Smedly feeling from EME right now. A very Smedly feeling indeed.

It's not a deal-breaker for me, but I really don't understand why they've chosen to remove them; their use is strictly opt-in, and the impact on the game one way or the other would have to be pretty negligible. Also... well... it's an extra feature to put on the box. Seems like a no-brainer.

The only thing I can really think of is loss of fps for some players on weaker machines in high-traffic areas... but I seem to recall seeing somewhere that you can turn them off if they're effecting performance.

Yes, you can turn them off in your settings.

And unfortunately I think the problem truly is that this decision was a "no-brainer".

Right there in the settings, huh? Ok, well I'd certainly be interested to hear EME's reasoning behind the decision, because for the life of me, I'm not seeing it.

Surely it wouldn't be those "little girl" type store characters? Scraping the bottom of the barrel here...
