bring the smackdown, civility discipline to these quckly deteriorating forums. It's really getting to be a chore to watch the same troll threads made and fueled by the same troll posters more often than not just go on and on and on posting again and again and again. Nothing constructive or to build the community, just a campaign of gloom.

SWTOR forums. Made the site unvisitable. Please, not here. Not here.
Please.

You're right about one thing -- these sure do look like the SWTOR forums.

Of course, a few months into it now, the SWTOR forums were pretty accurate all along, it seems. Now I'm -not- saying that's true here...but the steadily rising tides of 'just leave' and 'you must be a troll' comments cannot bode well for anything.

No, they were not predictive per se but more like self fulfilling prophecy. In their relentlessness and poor forum moderation succeded in creating a "forum public general concensus of acceptable negativity" (FPGCOAN) that simply contributed to turn away prospectives.

Well, I'd give it a combination of both, but I agree with your overall view there. The things being complained about -did- drive away many, many people. That there wasn't anyone there to replace/expand on the losses came from a lot of the negativity; however, a lot of the negativity was well-deserved (but certainly not all of it). Bioware, while intending well imo, did horribly in waiting so long to respond to a lot of the criticisms. I wonder how much input EA had into crafting the necessary statements that ended up getting released -- the red tape might explain the delay, albeit in the end it becomes merely a thought exercise as to what could have been done. *Edit: I also wonder how much of it was based on a lack of experience in the field, and not knowing how swiftly the tide of information can turn in an MMO forum.

Mind you, I did not play SWTOR as I'm not a SW-type person. I was merely a forum reader who never had an account and never posted.

SWTOR had serious, serious issues.

It's no wonder people bailed on that game.

TERA has issues just as serious.

It will be no surprise if Vanarch/Nexus doesn't turn this game magically around (unlikely, since those do not affect some of the core problems with the game).

The big difference between the SWTOR forums and here is I believe you have to be a TOR subscriber to post there....

As long as the admins allow the same 3-4 trolls to open threads like "Tera is horrible and the community is worse" or "10 reasons why TERA should be F2P" or "Tera is losing all subscribers tomorrow!" nothing is going to change here.
One of the trolls promotes people to SUE EME over and over.
Who the heck gave these people the crazy idea they have freedom of speech to post whatever offensive derogatory garbage in a private forum?
These forums belong to a company and this company should be honestly doing a better job at protecting their property.
I am not saying people should not expose negative opinions about the game and I realize there is much improvement to be done but opinons and suggestions should be presented in an intelligent matter.
What good can come from a post that starts with: "5 reasons why I can't stand Tera, cancelling my sub"?

Trolls are getting away with murder here and they know it.

I agree. While I may [filtered] post here, usually this is responses to [filtered] posts itself.
You can certainly express you negative views and opinions but you have to do it in a civil manner or the community, and probably EME just look at the thread, roll their eyes and move on.

That is EXACTLY what I mean Pharys. Nothing is perfect and we can't always expect peaches and cream. Constructive positivism and criticism come hand in hand. But when they are obvious naked trolling attempts as he gave a couple of examples of and from the same posters over and over (who obviously are not getting a moderation induced vacation) that is a problem.

Minea might need a couple of those interns to come help him/her/it after they bring in the mochaccinos.

I can't remember a forums that hasn't looked like this since I played Shadowbane.

Vanguard - check
Age of Conan - check
Eve online - check
Darkfall - check
Mortal online - check
Rift - check
SWTOR - check
Tera - check

I may have missed a few I've played along the way, but really on PvP servers and anywhere a PvP server exists forums get nasty - very par for course.
