Skill abit of advice if you paid $5,500 for your Alienware you paid too much which is why i build pcs that desktop mat posted can be built for under $4000. This is my laptop note the parts and price Alienware is owned by Dell and you pay a premium for brand name like buying a Crapple! Also depending on his other components i could build it for around $3000 or less and itd still make an Alienware look like it was standing still. Another tip you can buy a normal dell with same internal components as an Alienware as they use the parts they now cross utilize components after buying out Alienware.
Buy by components never by brand name you spent $4000 of the $5,500 on a fancy case, logo and brand name. Hate to tell people all jacked up on Alienware but you just bought a glorified dell like gutting a pimped out VW Beatle and dropping it into a Ferrari body kit and selling it as a Ferrari, But hey at least it looks sexy right I mean it might have trouble getting on the interstate but DUDE IT LOOKS DAM FAST! ROFL i'm sorry couldn't help myself I wish people wanting a bad A gaming rig would call someone who knows components first so they really get the most for their money tho cause seeing people get less for more sucks when you gotta tell them they just bought something that equals eye candy but not performance.
In the end if you can run your games on it that's good it does what you need it to but you could of paid less for more is all. That's why guys who build pcs and know their parts rag on Alienware and Apple because their price dosn't match their internal performance.
Yeah whatever no way you can make it cheaper than Alienware.
Skill that laptop of mine i posted has more power than the Alienware desktops they sell Its whats known in the field as a Desktop replacement model. Its a laptop for guys like me who need the power of a super powerful desktop on the move. I have friends who work for dell and they build their own gaming rigs they wont use Alienware AND THEY SELL THEM! Saying i cant do one of the things i make a living doing really bears no merit to me seeing as i build better than Alienware pcs for a fraction the price on a daily basis. Its in my field of expertise to know my components and how to build the best for the best at the best price. Alienware in my Field is a joke don't show up to a pro builder convention with it you'll get laughed out of the building.
lol... the debate of Custom Built over Name Brand...
Simple Answer: If you do not have the skills or knowledge on how to fix a PC. Buy one from a Name Brand.
If you know how to fix / build a PC and don't mind buying new parts when stuff breaks. Build one yourself.
In the end $$ is the only thing setting you apart!
you can still get a custom built computer even if you dont know how to build/fix computers. NCIX and most computer stores make custom built computers for you (only if you buy the parts from them) for $50. they will tell you even what's the best parts to combine to make a rig. and you still get 2-3 years warranty for each part. name brand computers are just a complete waste of money. unless you're buying it from craigslist (only then you may beable to find a good deal on a alienware computer) then it's a complete rip off.
