PvP Flag, and Griefing!

So reading how pvp is going to work on pvp servers... i have to admit i'm sort of semi-worried now. As i was REALLY into the game, and still am. but feels like... this whole flag attack anyone system can easily be used by griefers. Its bad enough trying to level on a pvp server where you have faction members to help you, but now feels like... everyone around me is a potential foe. On top of this we now have the idea of " THOSE ARE MY MOBS" flag and attack!

So now most petty of situations could cause an all out war and while MIGHT sound could see whole days lost trying to level up do to griefers, griefing and generally players just camping areas slaughtering everyone even looks there way. Lets now factor in high levels camping low level zones...and while might sound cool.... i get sinking feeling this is going to end up an utter nightmare...

not deterring me from playing the game... but certainly a worry of my own... knowing just how bad pvp gankers can be... i suppose whole " lawl roll pve!" but problem is really like idea of a pvp server but i also like to know who my friends and foes are...this sounds really...really iffy for myself.

So who likes this concept? and who is kind of leery of it?

It's a PvP server. If it's too hot for you, then don't roll on one. Simple, non?

The whole idea of having to watch your back, forging rivalries and alliances in the heat of battle is pretty much the draw of world PvP.

The Veteran's Guide has a snippet of info in it. Our Outlaw system is a skill gained at level 11 that flags us for PvP, allowing us to attack and be attacked by any other player level 11+, even ones that aren't flagged. There will be some safe zones, which I assume are things like towns and a region controlled by a PvEish Vanarch, who is sure to make some enemies on a PvP server.

At the very least that's already significantly different than the Korean version of Outlaw.

Outlaw system wears off 60 sec's after there Is no Pvp so you will need to keep declareing, you can't run around with It on. Another concern Is the Pvp compass which tells us where we can and can't O-Pvp, hence telling me areas I don't want to be restricted will be.

That's just how PvP servers are, my friend. You're going to be surrounded by people who are potential jerks and will want to kill you not for the challenge of combat, but because doing so will piss you off.

There really is nothing more than can be said other than play on a PvE server. Or at the very least, join a PvP server with people you can trust outside of the game to watch your back while you watch theirs.

Thanks for the link and explanations.

I am assuming flagging yourself as an outlaw is instant so I don't quite see the point in having to do that if you can just flag yourself then beat someone up at any time.

As it exists in Korea there are penalties for PKing which scale significantly and require farming mobs (while flagged) to decay afaik.

I doubt it will be so simple as described in The Veteran's Guide as that's supposed to be the cliff notes.
