Ok - I have to do it.
But this sounds like a plea from a guy that wants to PvE on a PvP server, and not collect 2 sets of gear. He wants to avoid being caught out in the open in his PvE gear, and getting face stomped by someone that has spent more time honing their skills more towards PvP.
Am I missing something? Not trying to troll or light any flames here.
I have ALWAYS assumed, that when I play on a PvP server - I keep a set of "Dungeon or Raid Gear" in my bags.
The gear that i travel around in is my PvP gear, so that in the event that I get jumped - I am prepared.
Well then take out high end PvE gear or make it so PvPers can get the same gear just as easy or maybe even easier. If I am dedicating my play style to PvP and you are dedicated more to PvE shouldnt the gear reflect it?
Hi all,
I agree with most of what is said on this thread, at least people that make sense and don't troll. I sincerly think that this game has a huge opportunity to become the next fun mmorpg out there. I just wanted to add my humble opinion and try to do a recap of what most of us agree on:
- PVP gear ruins pvp, from WoW to Rift we all know that its just unbalancing the game and not allowing to enjoy the PVP and PVE features beacause of the lack of time it takes to grind it.
- Personnaly, I am not against BGs BUT, they should not be able to give you ANY sort of gear but only "honor" like for exemple Titles, a rank (that would encourage competitive pvp)... etc. Again, they should encourage competitve PVP and not grinding gear to be able to OS the newbies. Also, I think it would good to encourage team vs team BGs and not only random solo Qing. If people really want a tengible reward for BGs then I think we should try to figure out a system that provides equivalent gear than PVEs (maybe with different skins) but with exact same stats. It seems a little hard to find a fair balance though, but Im not against the idea. And we should also try to figure out a balance between BGs and OWPVP.
- If you dedicate more time to pvp, then you should have more skills in pvp than a pve boy, no need to have better gear. I think that some people are just scared of being crushed by some other less pvp oriented players, personnaly i love pvp and like pve, but what I really like is challenge, not auto wining a fight beacause i have 10 times more resistance against players.
Anyway, I hope the devs are reading the forum. They have great mmo in their hands, i hope they will not transform it in an other Wow/rift/allmmorpgs-like. Keep it open world oriented and fun!
Lets keep that brainstorming effective and troll-free.
Glhf all, apologies for my aproximative english.
PVP ARMOR is like giving a bad player with no skill a HANDICAP. ~SUGGESTION DENIED!

Here are most of my thoughts on the topics in this thread;
PvP armor = horrible idea especially when considering world PvP
- this (sort of) worked in WoW purely because PvP was all done through battlegrounds which allowed matchmaking. Ultimately it was broken though. Rift was the perfect example of how broken this machanic can become as in some cases opponents don't even bother to fight because they can do no damage, thus, ruining PvP for everyone. There really is no up-side to this that I can see.
Battlegrounds = SHOULD be implemented for all level ranged up until level cap, 60 in this case
- It is imperative to give lower level people a place to PvP to learn their characters and how to PvP. However, a level 60 battleground would do nothing but hurt world PvP which is what I see many people want.
I could do without the PvP gear myself. Although it's not going to do away with the need for multiple gearsets. Even if you discount the PvP-specific stuff, the bonuses that you want for serious dungeon running aren't the same ones you want for PvP.
Seems to me, what's really at issue is the severity of the PvP-oriented bonuses.
