more simply. If i am level 11, I should be able to kill a level 58 in pvp. Then it really is free for all. In other games i have played, if you are lower level, you have no chance to defeat a higher level.
I should mention, the flag allows those "defender of the weak" types to assist players against Outlaws without accidentally catching the victim in the crossfire.
That's an excellent point that I didn't think of. ^^
NOW..........(not directing this at you Arrei)
I believe a 60 second timer is WAY too short though. I mean WAYYYYYY too short. I am thinking minimum 5 minutes, I would hope 10 minutes. It would make things more interesting. Guy flags and kills you, you then want to get revenge but he's not flagged anymore and you can't find him. Now if they were still flagged for say 10 minutes you or a buddy could track them down and eat their brains.
Perhaps after you are killed the timer goes away but I feel it should last longer than 60 seconds for sure for the revenge aspect and hunting. We will be on a pvp server because we like to pvp and a much longer timer will make things more interesting and fun.
Personally, I think the timer is fine at 60 seconds as long as it has no recast timer on the Outlaw skill.
This is assuming there are no ridiculous penalties for having killing other players, which I would hope on a PvP server there won't be. If you get jumped, you and your friend can still just go find the people who did it, turn on your Outlaw skill, and then get your revenge. The timer wouldn't prevent anyone from killing anyone else, as it should be imo.
The problems arise when arbitrary forms of player control start to crop up, such as making Outlaws lose xp or items. I feel on a PvP server....*gasp* PvP should be promoted, not punished! And players that don't like that sort of system should simply not roll on a PvP server. The PvE servers HAVE PvP on them, it's just not FFA.
I hope fans of GvG and open world FFA conflict/politics finally get a AAA game to play on with TERA. I'll be disappointed if the PvP systems start being dumbed down because players start whining about griefing.
Right. BUT. As I understood it from people talking during the last beta the people flagged as "outlaw" will show up on the map for everyone to see. So if the person was flagged for 5 or 10 minutes you could track them down. IF that isn't the case and they don't show up on the map then that is exactly what I would do.
See them, flag myself then stab them in the face with my pike!!!!
Hmm, well, I saw nothing about map tracking in the Korean version things I read. People blowing hot air, perhaps?
And don't get your hopes too high, Rikos. While it's theoretically possible to win, a single mistake, a single hit means you die.
I have no hope that it will happen. I am just asking the people that are the hardcore pvp types. If they would still enjoy the system if anyone.. anyone.. stood a reasonable chance of killing you. O you want to go grief some newbs go for it, but theres a decent chance you will die in the process. Makes the pking thing a little more real to me. Otherwise it just turns into some high level bullying people because their really is no way for them to lose.

Well, since you're just asking PvPers in general, and I consider myself a huge advocate for PvP, I'll respond to your question.
Personally, I see the entire road to max level as a means to an end. For me, I want the maxed level Guild vs. Guild conflict to be my "endgame". "Endgame" is what a PvPers fun actually begins. When everyone is max level, then everyone has that chance of victory that you're referring to.
The road to max level, I could really care less about as long as it's fun and not mindlessly boring. If I get griefed? So, what? I could care less. I could move to another spot. I could ask in chat for people to help me defeat the RPK. I could ask my guild members or friends playing with me to help me defeat them as well. There are many options, and griefing does not ruin my fun. I'm glad that TERA will have a server that is FFA, and for people that don't find it fun, I hope they would just roll on a PvE server where they would be more satisfied anyway, instead of trying to change the server that I, and others like me, enjoy as it is.
So, for the TL;DR verson - yes, I love having people be equal level and in equal gear as I am. In fact, I think the most fun this game could offer me is a huge GvG fight where my guild fights for territory against another guild, all the same level, all in equal gear. That's MY "endgame".
The entire point of having a PvP server is to allow for unconsentual PvP (or you can think of rolling on a PvP server as consent for all future PvP encounters). Say they make it so you "have a chance" to beat a lv58 at lv11 if you're good. Well what if the lv58 one hit kills you when you're low on health fighting a mob? What if they kill you when you're afk? What if they kill you when you're fighting another player? Etc etc etc.
The point of having PvP ruleset is to allow for unfair fights. If you want fairness and to always "have a chance" go play on PvE.
