This will be my new "Recent Shenanigans", moderators feel free to delete the V2

(For those who are wondering why this has been reposted, the previous one was against forum rules. Don't worry about it, just leave constructive comments)

To tera players, below is information that has been collected over the year from both BHS and EME.

These are things that the companies did or did not do outside of the game.

I have read through the rules prior to posting this. I have read through them CLOSELY, so this should be fine to post.

BHS is a business and they will make items with the lowest cost to profit ratio. What does that entail?

Elin only costumes.
Female Classes.
Female only costumes/Items
Re-skined mounts.
Poor designed/implemented cosmetics. (non-animated wings that don't even sit on the back correctly)

With larger profits from the above items they lose the incentive to create:

Bug Patches. (large bugs)
Male costumes.
Male Classes.
New animated cosmetics
and finally Optimization patches.

With them pushing out low cost to profit content (Such as female only classes, and bad cosmetics) they are leaving larger issues, like desync/UI/Improper coding behind.

Below are some things i have noticed, that are easy to fix but have yet been fixed.

Examples:
1) Gathering resources at resource cap continues to pop up message/when already mastered a craft notice that "this cannot increase your crafting level" still pops up.

2)Improper string(or words, for those who don't program). The other day i saw a post that a gunner was alerted they do not have enough "resolve" to use a skill. Why did this happen? Most likely because the willpower/rage system is based on the RE system and they didn't change one of the strings in the code.

3)Poorly implemented ScaleForm api that most likely suffers from stovepiping (Wiki : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stovepipe_system | More: https://sourcemaking.com/antipatterns/stovepipe-system)

4)Glyphs that are no longer used, are still in Vanguard glyph boxes. I opened a box and got a glyph that said "this is no longer used". Just remove the item ID from the array that the program uses to select the item to be received?

5) Queue estimation times are improperly handled and don't represent your individual queue type, or just don't exists.. (Dps, Heal, or Tank times)

6)Gunner passive using the SAME text as the reapers. (Will brawler too? how many classes can the shadow save?)

I am sure i could find even more, but these are off the top of my head.

with lack of proper content I can see this game becoming more and more unbearable and boring to play. I'm not saying it's going to die. Too many people have dumped money into the game. I am saying that it will get to the point that players consider the game a chore with a social aspect attached.

Let me show you more examples of what is happening.

Dungeon drops were a serious problem. After we were informed of the change it took months for anything to happen. We got many weeks with "soon". Remember how the actual update was about... 2 weeks ago? It didn't take long for a new content patch to be announced right after the update.

My concern is that (Take this with a grain of salt, as i am unsure the actual reasoning behind it) BHS didn't let EME push a new update out until it was close to new patch. Why you ask? Well for the same reason why they updated inferno ores, mes, and t7 feed. They want you to fly to the end and get that lucid/tensus gear or finish your current gear. It's nice to be able to finish your gear, but being so close to a content patch has me worrying about the motives behind it. This isn't the first time. Happened with plumes, and other things before lucid came out.

Which reminds me...

You know how EME gets a couple months to see the effects of a patch? They can watch KTera and be like "Hm, that doesn't seem to be working all that well. That's okay, when that patch hits NA we can adjust those things". The have done this before. However titan embers never got adjusted. The ktera patch that nerfed titian embers was 1 of 2 thing.

1) Bleeding the market of embers and eases to control and inflate it.

2) BHS Forget about them.

The titan ember problem was NEVER fixed, and EME had months to fix them. about 8 months, because when it was released in KTera yosha called it. Claiming that it will destroy the etching market if it isn't fixed before na release. (Which, it did)

Nightforge weapon skins. In march, you can find the thread, a community manager informed us that they contacted BHS to include the skins in the game. In march, 8 months ago.

There is also the issue with the way classes are handled when released to the public. When a new class is released it is very over powered. The previous class before it is usually nerfed to entice players to move over to the new class. This happened with reaper, gunner and is happening again with brawler.

We have had many many bugs on patch release, the most recent one being an issue with the sun texture. Many players were frustrated that something like this could not only pass into the public release of the game, but that the players themselves had to find the issue.

So, not that we talked about the problems, let's talk about fixing them.

Cosmetics:
When you release content aimed at one demographic that demographic will increase due to new content. Continue doing this, and you inflate it to such a point that your profits from the others no longer apply. This is what I am seeing with female only content. It makes sense, low cost to make, high returns. However you are losing players. When you inflate one side too much you lose everyone else and you lose profits from those other players.

Fix: Start including RACE only items. Both genders, one race. You can make a pack for all races and split the release up over time. (Popori and elins should be handled as a race) Make these items' "special" (the content usually in an rng box) form an rng and straight purchase. either you buy 2 stacks of 10 or you buy the item for the same price as two stacks of 10. Also, make a single stack of 10 cost around 20$. 50$ for a chance to fail 10 times is just too steep.

Dungeons:
Dungeon removal is becoming a serious problem, and many players want to be able to play them. I understand that making a custom loot table for all of the dungeons to keep up with patches is hard. So don't.

Fix:
Just give the players the legacy dungeons, and only update the health of the bosses as needed when we move into next patch. Easy peasy, just change an integer value.

General Frustrations:

EME, I think you should hold back on releasing information about future releases until you have a hard date you know you can release it on. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Fix:
Wait until you have a confirmed patch incoming from BHS and a hard date that it will be introduced into the game before you let the community know about it.

Releases:

Fix: Allow some selected community members to play on the PTR so they can identify issues with new patches. No one will find the issues faster than someone who players 6+ hours a day.

Whew, there. I have voiced my concerns about the recent things the game has gone through, and ways to address these issues. I will try to update the post with more concerns from the comments.

(Please edit out things that may be against forum rules. I triple checked and everything seems to be okay)

Agree with all of this pretty much. One small thing I would like to add to this that has bugged me for a while, is the inability to queue for multiple battle grounds at once, or even (I could be mistaken, been a whole minute since i played) the ability to queue for dungeons and battle grounds at the same time. Sometimes, you just get really bored and you want something, anything to pop.

Edit: If there is any one thing that I agree with more than the other items listed, is the withholding of information until an actual date is known. Not only would it cut down on player frustration due to being anxious and wanting more and more answers, some of which are already readily available, but I think it would also reduce staff frustration, from feeling pressured to answer so much so fast. Furthermore, it would be much less stressful on both sides because we don't have to anticipate things, and the staff doesn't have to get more bad rep for breaking and or delaying promises.

I agree with having community members testing new content on the test server. I was just talking last night with some guild members about this and we agreed that one of the top issues is that because EME employees don't actively play the game, they're incredibly out of touch with the real issues, and don't really understand why we ask for specific changes. Having community members on a test team of sorts would help to improve communication between us and them regarding in game issues

Do they not do player testing of patches before they come out? Wow I thought they did over here to make sure everything runs fine.

Then Again I have no idea how that would be orchestrated, but would be a huge benefit nonetheless. Especially in identifying drop rate in dungeons, and many other factors. But how would it be decided who gets to play the pre-release? Because it would be in BHS/EME favor to only let whales/merchanters play test, who would mostly likely say everything is fine....

hmm... applications? Maybe selected behind closed doors from the forums or people in the game with the highest playtime per character. They would need both PVP and PVE experts. They would also have to be unbiased, which in of itself could be difficult to get.

3)Hacked together 3rd party UI based on a flash system that doesn't even use the gpu to accelerate drawing. It uses the CPU, which is already being taxed because of the UE3.

Scaleform supports gpu acceleration. Its high performance is one of the reasons it has become the industry standard middleware for implementing ui and why it's used in hundreds of games. The reason why tera has bad ui lag is because the company that shall not be named sucks at coding and sucks even more at fixing problems because they're too busy making elin outfits.
