I'm planning on pre-ordering the standard edition from gamestop as soon as I hear that they are distributing beta keys because I'd like a physical disc in case I ever have to install the game again. I noticed the digital CE upgrade when I was browsing my account features and what not and was wondering how that works? It says that the standard edition is required so will I need to wait til I have my account set up with the standard edition from a retail store or can I just purchase this now and apply it later?
EME already said you can install as many times as you need via online. So what was the reason you need a physical copy? I mean, it's an MMO. You gonna play it singleplayer? You can't log into it unless you're connected to their servers.
Downloading ~30 GB of a game takes a while with bandwidth limits.
@Napkun, I think it's when the physical game comes out and have the key from inside the box.
Interesting, I hadn't thought of applying the way you thought of Napkun. I would, however, think that once the beta keys are sent out for all of those that have purchased from a retail store, it'll register on your account that you've purchased it, and you can apply the digital CE upgrade. But that's just how I think it'd work. I can see some flaws regarding that, if say, someone were to put $5 down on a pre-order, then upgrade to the digital CE for just another $10. So that'd be $15 total for the game, and you could easily cancel the retail pre-order and end up walking away with digital CE.
I'd suggest sending a ticket to support asking about this specifically, as the community most likely doesn't know, especially with no retail stores having next to any info on how to handle pre-orders or beta keys.
17 gb when I'm limited to 100 every month is a very large chunk. And then with my speeds, it can take 15 hours.
If I happen to lose the game or need to re install, I will hate it. A lot.
Can't you just save the patch file itself for later use? If you anticipate having to reinstall.
