Should I switch to a single GTX 680 for TERA?

heck 3 480 which are cheap now and perform awesome. I know this first hand cuz I got those 2 set ups on my two pcs. Heck the 3 x 480 set up works better than my 2x 580 lmao. That's sad to say.

480 GTXs are very good buys now, they run great in SLI, and are very cheap.

But I disagree that it's "Sad" that 3x 480s outperform 2x 580s. That's not sad. They're both Fermi architecture cards. The 580s were just slightly refined 480s. They also launched at about the same price range. So how you see 3x $400ish cards outperforming 2x $400ish cards, based on the same architecture, just slightly refined, as "SAD" is beyond me.

Also forgot to mention the 680 are having a lot of drivers problems.

680 drivers are working great imo. Unless you can post proof otherwise: This is misinformation.

The 680 is the fastest single GPU card available so yes if you can afford it why wouldn't you get it?

I have read people complaining about them, but with everything new it is to be expected. Mileage always varies.

Go to the Nvidia support thread on the 680 and tell me that is misinformation again. I have tested the 680 myself. They do have issues. But is mainly due to poor tweaking on the features it comes with. Sorry had to mention that. I don't like to talk for talks. I speak with knowledge.

As a side note. I have assemble and disassemble Computer Hardware this includes video cards of course for over 15 years. I don't like to sound like a smart @$$ friend I just know due to it.

If you read my post on the 2nd page, you'll realize that I said motion blur is your monitors refresh rate and not your frame rate. And no one is talking about difference in monitors past 60hz, we're talking about a video game displaying more than 60 frames per second and there not being any difference between 60 and 80 fps aside from stability in the clarity.

Sure there isn't much of a difference between 60 and 80fps,

but you know you can raise tera's FPS cap via a simple ini tweak.

I know the first thing I did when I downloaded the game, both in kTera and in betas was set it to 120.

Regardless of what you said, there is a huge quality and responsiveness difference between low latency, 120hz monitors and 60hz monitors.

My comments were directed at anyone saying they are a waste of money.

Currently running 2x ATi 6950 (Flashed to 6970 BIOS). Worried about lack of crossfire scaling, plus it's nice being able to alt-tab quickly when running single GPU.

Shooting for 120 FPS, which gpu setup should I go with?

CPU is i5 2500k running at 4.4Ghz @ 1.264V

those are some badass cards but youd be better off with an Nvidia FERMU/Keplar G100 series cards because the game runs on Unreal3
If youre shooting for 120FPS youre gonna need a Core i7 2600K to help those cards out.

I frequent the nvidia forums and there are no more complaints about 680s then there are any other GPU out there. People always have problems, even with tech that's years old.

And from my personal experience, i've tested, benched, and built a few 680 systems since they launched, and I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

That's single, SLI, and Tri-sli setups.

I don't have any working experience with 4 way 680s yet though, but when they launch the EVGA FTW 4gb 680 GTXes I plan to do 4 way SLI for my nvidia surround setup. I'll let you know how it goes.

2600k and 2500k have no significant difference when it comes to gaming. stop misinforming

Can you please point me to the benchmarks where a 2600k outperforms a 2500k in gaming?

I'm very interested to see this.

Ever since I started coming to these Tera forums, I've noticed the majority of the people trying to "play tech support" have no real idea about any high end hardware.

It's getting irritating.
"you need a FX 8 core AMD CPU for max FPS dawg!"
"Your 120hz 2ms monitor is no match for my 60hz CHeimei 12ms monitor! You wasted your cash!"
"SLI/Crossfire doesn't work! QQ!"
"2700k is SOOO much faster then the 2500k!"

Good it means they have finally polish their new card. I know is hard sometimes to take criticism but I don't do this to fight. I take the same flaws and advantages alike on perspective. I wish you the best of success in your project. Also let me know if you can run Samaritan with them. That would be a nice way to test their potential as a whole. /cheers mate.
