So I'm going to post a small rant here about my obt Tera experience.

For the last few months I have been going on about Tera and how I'm looking forward to it, been debating between it and guildwars 2 always I get the response from my friends "gw2 will be awesome pick that" anyway I get into cbt and had decided to purchase Tera within the first 10 minutes of the game (thats how good the combat is) attempting to hype this to my friends all I seem to get is resistance, I mention to them how the open beta is this weekend and they should give it a try if only to see the combat system, Convince a few to download it.

5:00am Aus time is when the server opened so I rushed to 11 to create a guild for us asap and await them to log in when they get up, we're now at the end of the OBT and none of them have even tried it, when prodded all of them have said "nah gw2 will be better not even going to play it"

For some reason i'm really pissed at this and I don't know why, these people I play games with all the time, when they give me advice about games I generally look into it, when they play multiplayer games I purchase it to play with them, but here I am with Tera and I can't even get 1 of them to try it.

Is it unreasonable to be angry at them over something as petty as not trying a game?
Also how have others gone with convincing their friends to try Tera.

Make new friends... your old ones dont matter anymore!

I seriously neglect my real life friendships coz there not worth it... make so many each day from just random people they come and they go.

tera is the bomb... Ill friend ya! im aussie too

Tera ftw!!! i love tera so much i even bought the 1 year sub + pre-order and not even trying it out yet . (back then before cbt) just watched the vids! rofl... thats how much i loved it!

I am in the same boat as you, only few of my friend in RL managed to pick this game up. Rest of them.. even though i showed how gw 2 is behind and I even gave gw 2 some positives failed to get them to even try Open beta said they didnt have time or Gw 2 has already been preordered. This also goes for all my diablo 3 friends as well. I did manage to get someone to get TERA and he is 32 while i only got to 28, but that was time constraints.

I blame this issue on:
People lack of interest in things, unless they discover it. People don't take advice from people or respect peoples opinions. Human Nature.

2. Main Stream coverage has been lack luster, so your friends didn't discover the game on there own

3. Gw 2 had alot of main stream coverage and is an established IP

4. More gw 2 fanboys then Tera

5. People are retarded. Normally low on intellect to determine things on there own unless they are totally into the subject.

yeah i know what you mean....... eh i pre-ordered gw2 and diablo 3 and got tired of waiting for it you know? i mean they say its coming out but it seems like its never coming out. rofl.. and i pre-ordered diablo 3 like 3 years ago or something... >.>

I can understand your anger. They'll throw their opinions all over you, and you'll comply, but it doesn't work the other way around, because they don't think as highly of your opinion. I think it's pretty screwed up. I'm playing Tera because a friend of mine, much like you, talked me into it, and I had a blast trying it out. So I tried to spread the word with a few other friends of mine, and all they can tell me is, "Why are you wasting your money on that piece of -s-? Guild Wars 2 is coming out." They didn't seem to understand that I was enticed by the action combat system in an open world mmo setting. Monster Hunter and Vindictus are great, but every single fight happens in an instance with a maximum of 4 characters, and it's just not what I'm looking for. I suppose some games aren't for everyone, but it sucks when they just reject your opinion with baseless assumptions. Sorry you had to go through that.

GW2 hype is insane right now. I have no doubt the game will be fantastic, however I don't think people realize how it's going to work. They will have one year between expansions, likely. That's an entire year without further content. Even if they figure out how to do it quicker there will still be dry spots.

GW2 will be a different type of MMO, and many people (myself included) will need a second game to keep them busy. I don't think people realize that fact yet.

eh screw em, I know people like that too (specially INGAME >.>), they try to make stupid faults with tera just to say GW2 will be better. I honestly hope GW2 crashes and burns so all the fanboys will shut up about it, though honestly GW2 is f2p, so I don't see why people wouldn't be willing to play both.

yeah even tho i was planning to play gw2... i happen to stumble upon this game right before cbt and i loved it ever since.

Fortunately I've had no trouble getting people to play TERA - but people get bored in dorms, so they're always up for something new I guess.

I was actually pretty surprised at the number of my friends who ended up pre-ordering the game after I wouldn't shut up about it. The ones who were on the fence either ended up buying it after trying a BAM fight or when they realized they could make an Elin.

TERA really does sell itself, but I think if someone is so set on GW2 or any other game that they're not even willing to try it they'd only see the bad and be unhappy no matter how good the game actually is.
