Prepare to be trolled. Pet stores are retarded but diehard fanboys are a stubborn breed and refuse to acknowledge that an AH is far, far more efficient and easier to use than personal stores. I played RO and haaaated having to hunt down items... it was more of a time sink that anything. Yeees, yes- you can do clever things with private stores and put them next to quest givers that require particular items and whatnot... buuuut, those are the same fanboys who claim they're making the game too 'casual,' 'westernized,' and 'ez mode.' Ironic, isn't it?
If you are given the option to turn them off then why would you insist they be removed entirely from the game for those that enjoy & want them in . Exactly who's trolling here ?
Pet stores are not "retarded" (why is that not filtered but sh*t is?)
You just don't like them.
If EME had given FFXIV a look, they would have been easily able to create an extremely attractive player-shop system, rather than just the knee-jerk reaction to be rid of them.
If you don't like them, you can remove them from your vision in your UI Options. But for those of us who understand their uses, they are an amazing mechanic.
If, however, EME adds a much, much, much better Broker system that allows you to automatic purchase items for X amount while you're out questing like the pets could, then I don't give a sh*t.
Pet stores are the least of my concern. Engines weren't hurting ANYBODY, if you don't want to risk losing an item, don't use it. I had more success than failure with them. But bind on pickup? Really? What's the point of an AH if I can't sell something that nobody needed from the dungeon? If it's top tier gold items, FINE, I don't want to see them flood the server thanks to people hacking either, but anything else should at the very least be bound to account like the pets, instead of bound to one character. If I can't sell the damn thing, at least let me make an alt to use it, I don't want to go npcing a blue bow just because I rolled highest and there wasn't an archer.
Items never go to waste, you can always use BoP items you pick up in dungeons as enchanting fodder.
If you vendor a blue BoP item, you're a fool.
FFXIV retainer system was possibly the worst shop system ever imo. Pretty sure "Give us an AH instead of this sh*t" was the most common complaint. But FFXIV is pretty much an abortion of a game in every regard.
Why were they retarded, you ask? Because they could be exploited much more easily than an AH can be. Prime example is gold farming and people setting up a shop right next to a quest giver to alleviate the quest time sink of that particular objective. It's exploiting game mechanics. Seeing hundreds and hundreds (yes, it can be turned off, WE KNOW. But your first time player logging in probably WON'T KNOW THIS) of private shops flooding the cities/zones makes the game look cheap and unpolished... appearance is everything in a game these days... you should know that.
