Who says people playing female chars are pretending to be females? I play a female char but in no way pretend that I am a female myself.

there r 2 different kind of reason, 1- ppl that love the female fight syle and others that wanna be one.

I think the only people who get offended are guys that get turned on by it. Then they realize OH CRAP IT IS THE INTERNET IT IS PROBABLY A GUY! DOES THAT MEAN I'M [filtered]?! HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO E DATE?!

I don't care if a guy rolls a female character or a woman rolls a male character. Same as I don't care if you are a guy or girl in real life. Why? Because it in no way affects me. I don't get hot looking at pixels or trying to hit on people I can't even see in real. it is just a game. To me this is like saying if you picked anything but Terran in SC2 you are traitor to humanity.

It would have made SC2 very boring if everyone was the same race.

I play a female toon because I am a woman trapped in a man's body and it makes me feel more comfortable while I play the game.

I think most of all, people are appalled by the fact most female characters have a male behind the computer screen.

(Pure speculation ON) Every male has the innate desire to connect with a female. That innate ability is triggered by a female character. The fact that, as a male, you are willing to risk this innate sensibility, is a bit disturbing to me.

Heres a story.

I was a class officer for a guild waaay back in Vanilla WoW.

We had been having problems with a rogue in our guild and i was asked by his class officer, due to my natural ability to find people in game, to figure out where this guy is and what he was up to.

i get a hit in Ironforge (/target trick) and i start zeroing in on this guy. My search leads me to an inn.

I find him on the second floor balcony, in an ubscure corner. His character's gear is changing out randomly, its then i realize...this fecking guy is playing dress up with his toon in private.

So i whisper to him "Dude...what are you doing?" His toon looks up...sees me...then jumps off the balcony and stealths.

I informed his class officer of his private dealings, the information was kept confidential in return for his good behavior.

So why do dudes play female toons? Some wanna play dress up. Some wish they themselves were female.

And others feel that if they have to stare at the back of an animated body for hours its going to be of the opposite sex.

I personally do not have a problem with it. However, if I was to walk up on a grown man who was playing Tera. Then saw that he was playing what looked like a barely clothed 12 year old girl... I would have to mentally question that man. I often feel that it is some form of a fetish. Much like hentai, toe sucking, and hot wax.

I play a female toon because they are fun to look at. I have played female toons in games for along time. Its not like I pretend to be a chick or something everyone that I game with knows im a dude and they are used to it.
