Are you insane?! I'm payed for a full game, I'm paying still for a full game.
An item mall has no place in a P2P game, That's just greed.
It is called BUSINESS, I know that may seem like an alien concept, but the point of a company is to make money.
Bring on an item shop where vanity items are available and I will throw my credit card at them.

NOTHING. A game you PAY TO PLAY should not be wringing more dollars out of you. The day TERA NA starts to charge money for a cute pet or a wig and the quality of other items suffers is the day I quit. I refuse to play a Pay to Lose game.
It is cute when people get so angry about other people buying non-game changing vanity items and getting up in arms. Is mummy not going to give you more allowance?
There is only one legitimate complaint people can have about a purely cosmetic store in a P2P game, and that's that they are too broke or cheap to spend money on cosmetic items that they feel they are instantly entitled to because they are already paying for the game.
<snip>
This is how the world works. If you don't want to shell out money for some pretty wings, don't. You don't have to.
Most people against the idea are just upset they are too broke/cheap to afford / waste money on cosmetic items. Cry me a river honestly, get a better job.
Darkmod honestly to god your an idiot. Your thread started quite civilized then your comment on me left me with the feeling of a 16 year old spoiled kid who wants to buy stuff instead of earning it. Well that's the mentality these days.
Can't you understand the fact we payed for a full game, that's why people pay monthly for these game, everyone has fair game, be it cosmetic or p2win items.
server roll's ,race changes appearance changes all good. but everything apart from that has no place here.
I'm 23, own a house, and work full time.
That aside, I'd ABSOLUTELY love to see a study that found out the general age ranges of for/against cash shops in P2P games. It would honestly be fascinating information. This survey would never hold merit because it was be internet based, and thus, fraudulent.
That being said, a guildmate of mine actually gave me a reasonable reason why a cash shop would hinder this game. He is, so far the only one who actually did not sound like a cry baby about it. I am not personally calling YOU out, like you so clearly did me, just saying the general mood of the "against" people is "boo, hiss we want everything for free we're already paying SO MUCH for this game".
I don't find subs hard to pay for. Sorry, it makes me sound like a rich jerk? I'm not. I just don't mind it. I pay for FFXIV. I don't even PLAY the game, I just like supporting a game I intend to play come december.
I donated $100 to Grinding Gear Games, makers of Path of Exile. A 100% free in every way Diablo 2 style isometric game. It's fantastic, and I feel it's criminal to enjoy it without donating.
I paid for my two kittens when I got them from the animal rescue shelter, even if they were free because they would have to start euthanize them otherwise.
Paying for things that should be free is not a symbol of ignorance, stupidity or otherwise. Some people just have that cash to spend, or maybe they just don't feel that self-entitlement of deserving it free. Like I've said, I don't want this game to ever be pay2win. Ever. I just argue that a cosmetic shop will NOT break ANY facet of the game in any way.
Now, onto what my guild-mate said, and off my of tangent.
He argues that a cosmetic cash shop could have one adverse effect, and that is if the non-cash items degrade in availability / updates because the company focuses more on cash shop items. To this degree I completely agree with him. If a content patch came out, and added 50 items to a cash shop, but 0 to the in-game obtainable items, everyone has every right to be quite upset about that.
That has not happened yet, all of this IS speculation. If that DID happen I would be on the side of argument. If cash shop got 25, in game got 25, so be it. That in my opinion would be totally fine. It wont break the game overall though. It's a really really silly concept to believe it would and it shows you have no faith in EME to do the right thing. Not everyone feels that everything they have done has been what they wanted, but that's mostly impossible. They cannot make everyone happy.
NOT even cosmetic's and people shouldn't be talking about it as if it was up for debate.
I mean aren't we paying enough ?
No one is forcing you to buy from a cosmetic shop in a P2P game. That's the beauty of it.

I understand where that argument holds water, but I honestly do not care.
My red mage hat is going to take me about 20 days of rep grinding in Bastion. No big deal. If they want to release angel wings for $5, I'll buy the crap out of that. Other people will to, EME makes more money, they're happy, they produce more content, we're happy.

What a smug comment...you honestly live in your own world, do you even begin to think we're still in a rescission and some people may have enough to only pay the monthly fee, like someone said only greed would try to squeeze more money out of people in this economy. I will support and item mall if it's not some cheesy pay to win model and the rest of the game suffers for it, Tera deserve the love and attention not the item shops. Oh, and good luck finding a new job in this economy to pay for item shop items......

While I'm not telling people how to live their lives, I don't really feel sorry for people struggling with money complaining about a video games subscription.
If $15 or so bucks a month makes or breaks you, you should NOT be spending much time gaming, and much more time focusing on getting your life situated.

You know Job was smug too? then God set him low, watch what you say, one day you maybe on the other side of that door.

Completely agree. If $15 a month is going to be the difference between having dinner or going to bed hungry, you shouldn't be on a computer playing video games.

This not about the $15 a month, it's about item shops....two different things. One is access to pay the game while the other is add revenue to the monthly fee, in other words, a way of fleecing you out of more money.
I repeat, I will support item shops if it's cosmetically only, no need to spend resource on ways to fleece your player base, if you spend it on polishing the one thing that's making the money.
