Ohh no.... the damn damage meter...

I have always been a dps in the 12 years I played mmorpg's and I'm pretty certain of what I'm doing and the damage meter wont have an effect on me as a single person. BUT I don't like when I'm in a group and someone isn't doing enough damage and he gets yelled at to a low where he don't even like to play the game anymore... I get furious and extremely pissed at the person yelling at the poor guy as long as the dude tries his best I can't demand more.. New people that are new to mmo's and get in a group in their first dungeon and get yelled at, called names and all the rest of the bull... might not come back. People yelling at people on mic or in-game chat will never get my respect as a person or as a player simply to childish Grow up!

You're a Berserker.

Do you get more damage from Thunder Striking as much as possible, and only using Combo in between, or from weaving Thunder Strikes and Cyclones, or from Thunder Strike-->Flatten-->Cyclone chains, or is there a possible way to do more damage that involves never using Thunder Strike?

How would you ever know, especially given that differences could be miniscule and sheer randomness means that anything under 5 iminutes could skew perception even IF you could remove any other variables (like someone else in a group doing slightly more damage etc.)?

Okay, I read up to page 6, seeing as to what people have to say about dps meters, and as i can see, it will be both easy and hard to even determine a roughly good estimate of dps.

As a lancer, I have had to block many attacks, and have watched a bam suddenly just walk away from me, and walk all over a couple of my party members even killing one or two of them.

Since i am a lancer, my job is more take a beating and make sure the boss is on me at all times, and no one else. I have even had to shield cancel from mid attack to just block, before getting attacked. As a lancer, It will be extremely hard to even get any good data on dps from me, as I have been rage spammed upon, walked and charged upon, and even suddenly surrounded and mobbed upon. My JOB is to take a beating, and ALLOW other classes, mainly DPS to do thier job and weaken and kill any mob as WELL as possible, with out getting killed.

I even was with a group, that one bam boss Killed 3 of my 5 party members, leaving me and a sorc. So, doing my job, I lure the boss away from my fallen party members, and solo it, Not as much dps as possible, but stunning and attacking when i can, without taking too much risk. And since because I was fighting to survive and distract, the sorc was able to revive the healer and then the other dps members. The game has far more dynamics in it than a typical MMO, and I know lancer and healers will probably have low dps, but we actually have important roles, one to take all abuse, and the other to heal.

I lol at people saying stuff like 'it will allow us to help others improve' n stuff like that. never in my many years have i seen anything but mass flaming on bads, i would like, just once, to see a helpful comment to someone pulling sub-par dps or just not playing the boss fight right.

I definitely support having some kind of dps meter for Tera. It's a very helpful tool thay can improve everyone's gameplay if they used it properly.

But that's just the thing: it WON'T be used properly.

It actually doesn't matter. The point is the finish the dungeon and have as much fun as possible. Fighting bosses in new ways and doing random crap while completely eating the boss's face is where the fun is at.

DPS meters just encourage, "Hell yeah, I did the highest DPS, freaking scrubs." This is an individualistic, " I am best", mentality, not a, "We did well", collectivist mentality. The majority of the people here do not like the individualistic focus of the current "WoW style" of MMO's. We want to go away from that and focus our attention to the collective idea of group identity, such as Guild pride, something WoW never had, while L2 and RO definitely had. The point is to make friends while having fun. DPS meters make everything "serious mode" and takes away lolz moments.

There is already an overly for korean versions. Also, any game that has a text based combat log is capable of analysis and extraction, and via third party DPS meters that doesn't directly change the game's files but through simple monitoring log out puts, you can formulate DPS, HealPS, and other facets without breaking any ToS.

So please, refrain from using this tool as a way to subjugate other players. While not everyone will listen to this plea, realize that people who use DPS meters as means to act in superiority usually aren't the people you want to be grouping with anyway.

Those of you who are outraged by this fact or complain that you were abused in WoW by players who kicked you for under preforming, well... at end game in Tera if you do not preform up to standard, that boss will kill your whole party because you are slacking. Wouldn't you rather know for a fact the problem is that slayer who is randomly spamming his abilities instead of pinning it on the archer who is doing surprisingly well just because he is an archer?

While DPS meters can set standards, please realize that sometimes standards are required for completion of the hardmodes. A lot of the DPS race fights such as the baboon in Temple and the fact you have a very small time frame to break the trees down before he one shots your entire demonstrates a need to now just how much you have to do in order to complete the fight, and it shows who is lacking. People are going to try and set the standard higher than necessary for easy runs, but they are already doing that now requiring you to be level 32 to run a level 28 instance because they want it to be easier.

Whether we have a DPS meter or not, people are going to find ways to set standards via the already in game gear score and other methods. So let's try and make the most of it.
