That wall... you talk about clocking at 4.0 GHZ oc... but what about this FX-4170 Zambezi? I use that. Still lag. Terriable FPS. Etc etc. Guess I should look more into Intel processors see what else goes beyond just frequency. I know thier Caches are usally bigger but to have such a difference is baffling.

It's really not on people's computers. Switching graphics presets and hiding/showing the UI, which normally has an effect on fps, has no effect during Nexus; sometimes it will even give reverse effects.

Additionally, checking out cpu/gpu usage during the nexus shows my i7 2600k (4.6Ghz) at 15% and my 6870 at ~10%, it's definitely something server-side. RAM is also a few GB below how much I have. I'm playing from a SSD using 1GB RAM read/write caching each. Tera just isn't optimized to make use of good hardware.

My fps jumps between 30 and 0 fps during Nexus.

yep n' thats why you need a Server computer to run it and a 40 Download and 20 upload stream.

The problem with the nexus is the issue is two-fold. Yes there is a server component, there doesn't seem to be enough bandwidth sometimes on the servers end, and the latency jumps all over the place. I'll bet this component is strongly correlated to geography and isp.

The other component is hardware. It seems on certain systems with AMD hardware the engine just reaches it's limit or something and basically locks.

The unreal 3 engine is very much optimized to make use of hardware from 2-3 years ago. I don't think it was ever intended to display 200+ character models at once though lol.

well my Q6600 is 2-3 years old... I don't think nexus was suppose to be added to the game. Perphaps its a counter or to entice rift players and it was rolled out to quick to take into account the possible bottlenecking that may occur. Probably didn't do enough stress testing...

i7 2600, 8GB DDR3, 560 Ti
and I average 12 to 15 frames on Nexus - preset 3; 0 Background distance/quality and Texture/Characters to Max (Shadows off, havn't tested with on yet though); 0 Landscape (landscape takes a lot of frames up!)

I found it weird that despite having the rendered players to be about 10 or so, I was still getting no increase for my frames. So when I bumped it up to 50 players I was still on the same frame rate regardless.
