The starwars developers are admit the game is pretty much a failure as a money maker and there business model is in consideration to change to Free To play.

Lets put ths in perspective
Warcraft alone has 2.5million likes on facebook and over 10,million subscribers
Vindictus, TERA's closest Genre competition, Has the Action market cornered already with a F2P model thats turning a big profit and boosting Nexon(soon to aquire EA?) bottom line enough for them to release an "Extreme" version of the game. A completely revamped and redone version of the immensly popular source game.
Starwars the old republic has about 2million likes, but are claiming less than 1million subscribers
Guild Wars 2 is by far proving its new model for MMOs is not only a good idea, but a big seller as well.
Facebook likes arent an accurate representation but its a ratio you can count on for guaging how popular your expected to be.

In the end Look at TERA.
You cant beat WoW, nuff said.

There is no denying that TERA was built upon the basic quest trinity model of tradtional MMO no matter how much you want to claim "action." Vindictus already set the gold standard for action based MMORPGs wether it has an open world or not.
And Guild Wars 2? It's not even out yet and its already churning a profit for its user base and developer team, even so much that AreaNet saw the issues with diablo 3 and DOUBLED its server population and increased relm capasity. Not only that but being able to release new beta builds and updates round the clock durning its beta events.
Anet is taking all things into consideration.

Whats to be worried about?
One simple question, Whens TERA going F2P?

How does a already dead game relate to Tera ?

EN MASSE Already said no Micro Transactions F2P = Pay to Win EMS doesn't Like The model a game doesnt need 10m subs to be successful Final Fantasy 11 Never had that and was successful

Good Lord whats up with these kids wanting everything free. The world doesnt evolve around you Grow up.

Side note

I'd bet my +12 Lance The op doesnt even play Tera.

You really don't have a Clue do you?
First of all "kids" isnt an insult, and using it as such shows your own immaturity.
2nd of All, its a cost per point value.
How much did TERA cost to develope and how much does it cost to maintain vs its income?

These are very real world business model questions.
BioWare didnt want F2P either, but its considering it now.

But a Dead game? Only by reletive standards, Starwars has by far a greater population than TERA.

I suggest you "grow up" and take a look at the real world markets and values instead of taking a potshot in the dark aat someone who knows what theyre talking about.
This isnt opinions, this is market watch.

It's funny ppl dog ffxi when it was a huge success of its time. The swtor thing doesn't surprise me those people have so much money to recoop after blowing countless millions on that junk. Not that it really makes a huge difference but wow hasn't had 10 million in a long time. When I quit that game they'd already lost over 2 million in 2-3 quarters and last I remember they were up to 3.X million subs down and people are leaving that game in droves. The thing people always seem to not understand (thanks to wow) is that you don't need a lot of subs to be successful and atleast for the moment tera seems to be doing just fine and im' on a "dead" server (blightwood) saying that.

If your trying to make joke your not making a good one considering FFXI has been up and running for 9 years and still has a massive player base ~.^

AreaNet saw the issues with diablo 3 and DOUBLED its server population and increased relm capasity.

I Find this funny considering Areanet's staff is former blizzard members. Are you sure you don't mean Battle-Net ????

WoW isn't a god send all wow did was show MMO's could apeal to the mainstream and it took a crap load of marketing for it to happen.

they may have 10m accounts but can bet that 10m ppl are not playing

In my own Personal Opinion, the problem with new Released MMOs is they are trying to be like WoW by starting out far too big instead of starting Small. It eventually leads to their downfall as well.

From what I've Heard, EVE has been growing over the years while others die down after about a year. From my point of view it seems EVE is doing it right by not copying WoW or Theme-park trying to refine it and make it into it's own thing.
I also think Pure Theme-park Games are just going to die off all together, I could be wrong though.

(Before someone calls me a Blind EVE Fanboy, I haven't even played EVE.)

Your information is false, Blizzard Activision reported 10.2million subscribers in Quarter 4.
wow has never dropped below 8million sucribers

- Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft® Remains #1 Subscription-Based MMORPG with Approximately 10.2 Million Subscribers as of 3/31/12

Sorry if this winds up being a double post but this needs to be said. I will learn to not call people out in posts? When I took Business management and marketing out of school. Ha good luck do you play on all servers ? hmmmm well do you our course you don't how can say this game has less population than Star wars if you do play Tera which I doubt you even do.

You would know alot of ppl left there servers to head for dragon fall for whatever reason on PVE side.

Even at 50k subscribers EMS is still turning profit.

14.95 X 50K = 747'500
