So EME made a global chat channel, and was apparently surprised when people use it to talk/troll/etc. So, instead of realizing their mistake, it is now the order of the day to punish players for speaking in the channel in a manner that is "unintended". Well, where is the rule written about the LFG channel? Is it in the TOS?

I really hope you guys reconsider your choice of policing a chat channel. You had a great LFG tool already in place, why not just raise awareness of that instead? It is obvious that the players enjoy having a global chat channel for chatting/trolling/trash talking/etc. Don't let the hubris of your "intentions" blind you to your players enjoyment of the game.

All this heavy handedness will do is make the LFG channel slowly fade into disuse. The LFG tool is better, it just needs a little polishing. Heck, why just just have a LFG command like old EQ... type in /lfg SSG, and it flags your character to show up when someone is looking for the same type of group...

This is a Mature rated game, which means the players like the ability to swear, insult eachothers mothers, and just generally make asses of ourselves. Don't take away our global channel.

So do you go to the movies and claim that because there was a street hawker selling water and food outside that they should let you bring it in because bringing outside stuff in is considered "unintended" but should be expected?

Are we going to really play this game?

Oh the speed limit said 40, but everyone is going 70 officer. Lets see how that flies.
You were caught out of the many others, unlucky you. But you knew the rule.

Actually... it kinda is in the TOS/EULA just not in the way that you might expect.

Really speaking, they own *everything* about the game. They reserve the right to tell you what things are intended for because *it is theirs*

Keep in mind, you don't actually own anything about Tera at all, you simply rent permission to use it.

No, there was no rule beforehand. But I am not upset. I'm simply saying that the players want a global chat channel, and that the LFG system could be much better without having to utilize a policed global chat channel. Don't punish players for wanting to chat. Feel free to take your foot out of your mouth now.

I dont want a Global chat, you don't speak for all of us. You speak of the one use abuse LFG as a global chat. Make your own global chat and advertise it in the threads and where not. /makechannel /joinchannel. There is your own personal global chat.

There was a rule before hand, LFG is only for LFG. It is like saying I didn't know the male bathroom was for males only.

Really?

WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!

That rating is from the ESRB and only covers what the developers put into the game in terms of content. It does NOT cover you or what you can or cannot do nor the chat channels.

That is covered under EnMasse and their server rules. You may want to actually read them first before acting like a spoiled petulant child who had his toy taken away because he was misbehaving with it.
http://tera.enmasse.com/rules-of-conduct

Namely these rules....

2. Do not attack someone personally, including their race, religion, nationality, ethics, sexual preference, or personal beliefs. Keep it clean.
6. Don’t harass, stalk, or purposely do things to make someone else feel uncomfortable
7. Do not post or use graphic sexual, grotesque, and violent language or images. There are enough websites out there for this. We don’t need another one.
10. Masked Profanity: We all know you can use l33t 5p34k to mask bad stuff. Don’t do it.
17. Trolling: You don’t want to be "that person".

And the big one...

27. Our employees will use their discretion to interpret if any action warrants moderation, whether it is mentioned here or not. We also have a magic genie that grants us the ability to make more rules, but we rather use those powers to make cool stuff for you.

Also from the ESRB site FAQ....

Do ESRB ratings address player chat, or player-generated content or downloadable music in online-enabled games?

ESRB ratings only address content created by the publisher, and cannot consider content that is created or introduced by individual players or other third parties when playing the game online. ESRB-rated games that can be played online with other players and which enable exposure to user-generated content are required to display an Online Rating Notice on the game's packaging (if it exists), as well as in the opening screen. The Online Rating Notice states: "Online Interactions Not Rated By The ESRB." This notice is intended to warn about possible exposure to chat (text, audio, video) or other types of user-generated content (e.g., maps, skins) that have not been considered in the ESRB rating assignment. Games that allow users to download songs will display the Music DLC Notice which reads: "Music Downloads Not Rated By The ESRB." Downloadable music content does not have to be submitted to ESRB for rating, but it must display the Music DLC Notice and, if appropriate, its RIAA Parental Advisory logo at the time of download or purchase.

It's called the LFG channel. Now mistake me if I am wrong, but isn't an LFG channel intended for people looking for a group? I know it is a crazy concept, but it is kind of in the name of the channel.

The inane dribble is drowning out people who are trying to use the channel for its intended purpose.

Ah, what was I thinking... I forgot the biggest crybabies are on the forums.

Anyway, EME, please make an unpoliced global chat channel, and improve the LFG options of the game. Thanks!

So EME made a global chat channel, [...]

LFG.
Looking For Group.

Are you stupid?

Thank you, EME, for helping to keep people like the OP from spamming LFG.

LFG is just an acronym, now we all know it means Looking For Group. But maybe some people think it means Looking For Gossip, or maybe even Lightning Fire God!
