If that was the case, the disk space needed would be 50GB and download quote needed would be 25GB. not the other way around, which is being shown here.


The disk space for the game itself is 25GB.

The disk space needed for the Download & Installation process is twice that.

It's not the best way to do things, but that's the way it worked when I installed the EU Sneak Peak client on Friday.

Let's see if this help: You download the installer which is 25gb. You install the game from the installer which is ANOTHER 25gb. You delete the installer leaving just the game, aka 25 gb.

Imagine a collapsed balloon represents the 25GB, when the installer decompresses that archive the balloon starts to expand, it can reach up to 50GB during that process while temporary files and directories are created. Once all the files are transferred from the archive to the destination directory in the proper sequence and verifies they installed correctly, the temporary files are deleted and the balloon pops and returns to it's original size.

Games have been working this way since I bought D00M on 1.44 MB floppy disk.
