[Warning to Trolls: This is a professional and well written article, or as best as I could, about the reality of the game and what is going on from day one to as of late and thru the experience I have gone thru, hear and see on myself and the community. If you are here to post please do so professionally and constructively, otherwise just read and let live.]

First let’s start with a couple of things that people need to understand about the game.
It’s a hard understanding for some gamers to understand or not know that the developer is not Enmmase but Bluehole studios. This means that Bluehole who has a developing team of about 200 more or less people are the ones creating the content, while Enmmase with about 70 people for development is the publisher. What this means is that Bluehole provides the content and Enmmase translate it and tweak the product from Korean to English. This limits Enmmase on the things that they can and can’t do. Now with this out of the way let’s start this interesting journey thru the game and company we all love and hate.

The good:

Now it seems nowadays that people have not seen or forgotten the good things that Enmmase has manage to do for such a small and new company, so ill post here the good things that we have and have gotten thus far:

1) They have done a great job to spot RMT (Real Money Traders) and keeping them banned and away from us. To this I’m extremely happy and my hat is off to you here Enmmase.

2) The economy of the game is balance and great. I think is the first game in a long time where in 2 months 1 gold = 1gold. Most other games by now have a 1gold=1Million ratio standard so to this again Awesome job Enmmase.

3) We got a lot of communication with the mods and developer team back in the day before the game went live. Although it has change it was a plus when it was first done.

4) We have gotten updates and patches and although yes it might not be enough to satisfy everyone pallet is still better than nothing.
5) I have experience costumer support before and they have being pretty helpful to me. The world might not be perfect but hey good manners still get things done in communications.

6) Although people might think that Enmmase development team is not doing anything in fact they are developing and fixing things. They only have 70 people guys throw them a break they are human beings too. For this Enmmase you deserve a break.

7) They have brought more new items to the store and kept their website rather nice and clean. Plus we get some dungeon guides every now and then.

8) I never lag and when I do is rare so to be able to pull such a heavy load type of game I have to greet Enmmase for being able to find competent people to be able to host it. Great job!

9) The leveling experience is nice and balance from 1-59. Also, the Egg event was a great Idea and I like it. Good job here as well!

There are limits to things that can be accepted and sometimes is hard to get them thru for whatever reason. Because we are all humans beings and we tend to ask for more than we can bargain, is sometimes misunderstood and thus infuriating to see things that escape the worlds of common sense and logic. Now I can’t say that everything is smile and roses although I would do wish so sometimes so to this we arrive at the bad.

The Bad:

There has being a lot of bad things that are just simply unacceptable to any normal standards that we are used to but this does not mean that it cannot be improve upon. To this I give you the list of bad:

1) Lack of communication with the community regarding the game and flaws. This is rather self-explanatory but Enmmase why have you forsaken us to this?

2) Getting a response to a simple question is sometimes rather impossible or close to impossible regarding a matter of a game mayor problem. Any other company would have a thread for bugs and suggestion so why don't we have one? The ticket system is not an excuse for this.

3) The community has being outrage due to the fact that they can get information about the game from Korea that even Enmmase seems not having. This shows people what to expect and creates a mutinous respond from the community that backlashes at Enmmase knowledge base. Why can’t Enmmase know what Bluehole knows? I think it explains itself.

4) People have being asking for a long time about adding a world chat for communications. Is easy, it keeps them happy and it works so why is this so hard again? LFG is there we all know. But we need a separate world chat or spamm channel w/e you like to call it. Is not hard and is not an excuse.

5) There are a lot of bugs in the game that people have said and have not even being acknowledge by the developer itself. I have to warn here that Pride and deception only creates more horrors and bad reputation. I could make a list of easily 100 bugs that I myself have experience but for the sake of the article ill do that another time.

6) Slow reaction to mayor game breaking issues is not acceptable to any gaming company standards and this is not a complaint but a fact sadly.

7) There should be a test server for new content. Is easy and not hard. Merge two of the obviously empty servers and create one. It would save everyone a lot of trouble and tiers.

8) There needs to be talks with Bluehole about what’s going on here. They need to start listening to what the NA community wants too. Their community is important in Korea, yes. But so are we.

Now is hard to get even close to think how this can get any worst but sadly a lot of things can become worst. Some say stepping on a cow patty is bad but for some is plain ugly….

The ugly:

There has being a lot of game breaking problems that were left like they were since day one. Many of them have created threads upon threads that have slowly and sadly disappear or have being lock. This has yet enraged the flames of the apocalypse in hell and to this I refer to our community. Yes, a lot of them I’m sure don’t bother writing anymore because out of pure frustration. This only scares people away and is a cheap scare tactics that is killing the game. To this I present the apocalyptic list:

1) Class balances at 60 and lower in dungeons. It’s well known that the Berserker and the archer was poorly though out. I play them and many other have as well. They need balancing and they affect the core of the whole game. You know there is something wrong when everyone and their mothers are kicking one. Don’t create monsters in dungeons that make this classes useless is that simple.

2) I mention before that Enmmase use to talk to the community. Why did they stop? I myself have no clue as to why but I do have noticed that they have not say anything even when everyone and their stockholders can tell that they have no answers that they can bring forth without looking bad. You know what’s really making this company look bad? Saying or doing nothing.

3) Server updates and maintenances. Why do the server status on the webpage shows the server always online when is down? This is a simple fix and honestly shocking to say the least on the unreliability of this tool.

4) The enchanting system. Yes a hot topic indeed. How can we make this piece of rotten watermelon new again? Hard, I know. Wait, there is a solution to this but involves listening to the people that keep this game alive. Honestly sarcastically joking and all. I have read thousands of great ideas that have being ignored or lost in the infinite archives of lost threads.

5) The ever not growing crafting system. When you have a key element like this killing the economy and gear progression you know you are doing something wrong. Crafting should not be a horrible grinding system it should be enjoyable. I have heard plenty of great solutions to fix the system that I could give my right hand that they would work.

6) There is a golden rule in any successful business policy. Costumers first. Honestly how can you ignore the people that are giving you their hard earn money? Is inconceivable and I own a business myself. You make your workers happy and you make your customers happy and guess what? Business will flow up the roof.

7) There needs to be a 1-2hour head warning about a server going down. People are dead tired of being on a dungeon half way just to get a 10minute warning that they are going to lose all their time invested in it in 10 minutes. 10 minutes is not enough time of a warning, period. Stop this and lower your community fire disapproval down by a huge margin guarantee.

8) The guild vs guild exploit was known for weeks from the Korean Tera so how come Bluehole did not told Enmmase anything about it? I would hire a new Korean translator it will save your company millions. Take my word on it.

Final thoughts:

The game is far from perfect and it could be better but if there is no reaction or talks with the people that make the game and keep it alive then what’s the point of it all? The reason why most if not all companies bankrupt or lose their investment is due to this simple things. When they stop caring for the opinions of their costumers, when they don’t do polls to see their costumers thoughts, when they don’t do the proper research to see what needs to be address. All this will destroy any business being gaming or a fast-food joint. It applies to all the same way.
I welcome all others to post their concerns about the game in a polite and educational matter with a possible solution to fix it. Let’s show that we can be civil and we care but that we are not dumb or knowledge lacking.

[To the moderators:]

I please ask to be flexible on my responses and what I have written. I care for this game and its company. Although it might sound hard I can’t hide this facts and doing so would make my opinion null. I welcome any moderator’s thoughts about what I have said and I would also welcome Brian Knoxx to contribute to this as well. Brian, I know you have being hit hard by the community and I think is only fair to show them that you are not the devil incarnate they try so hard to picture you to be. I have a family and children and I work hard. I know how hard it can be on a business environment. I’m not trying to get anyone’s reactions out. I read the forums rules. I’m simply welcoming any feedback they would like to give.

This concludes the end of our journey. I might be missing other things but I think the community can fill that for me. I hope everyone enjoy the reading and have a great day!

TL:DR -> Read the whole thing please, thank you.

Sadly... by your introduction I was expecting something a little more than QQ your not responding to us enough/fast enough!!! Which... is really all you complained about, and not so cryptically. I really find it amusing that people expect developers and community managers, once a game goes live, to be able to just drop everything and spend every waking minute on the forums holding everyone's hands. I don't think any of the general people on these forums has any idea what kind of measures that entails.

I find it ironic that you have a section called "the ugly" and it doesn't mention Elin shorts.

I'd like to point out that EME does not need test servers. Because it is clear that they have their own ideas of what is good, and even if there was test servers where you could test and claim something was unbalanced, they'd only reply "We think it is balanced" and ignore you.

And I'm not saying that because I think EME ignores me, it is based on how SquareEnix handled their test server where even if they got feedback on things being useless, they replied back that "It's this way because of the lore".

In the end it is simply a question about who the game is made for. Customers or producers?

Ktera is our test server, haven't any of you figured that out yet?

@Malamasala

The reason for skipping the Elin issue is to focus on the true problems at hand that are killing the game. We don't need more "elin Threads".

As for Sqaure Enix it ha being proven that their problem lies on their translation team. Even on ff14 the developers admitted that they had a hard time understanding the community issues due to poor translation.

There is always a reason for things to happened, that I can bet my left arm about.

Also thank you everyone for your feedback thus far. I wrote this with my whole heart to be honest. Is how I feel and I hope i grasp the community feelings as well.

I think the problems ran much deeper than that. Since it is quite obvious that they never needed translations to understand their fellow Japanese players.

It is also quite terrible reputation they get when they are incapable of finding a person fluent in both Japanese and English to run a global MMO. It isn't like you can save money by google translating all letters you get.

But enough about Square Enix, even though I've seen scary amounts of similar behavior from EME.
