I'll admit, this thread is somewhat aimed toward the internet in general, but the issue definitely seems to be highly concentrated on TERA, namely on PvP servers.

Ok, so I know that there have always been what we call "bads" on MMO's and well, lets face it, all online games. But on TERA specifically, mostly on the PvP servers, I have noticed a massive abundance of callous, angry trolls with a chip on their shoulder you can see coming for miles. If only I could count the number of times I heard the phrase in area chat "umadbrah" or "whymad" or "so mad so sad" and the list goes on and on and on.

What I am basically asking is, when did people get so angry and vindictive on the inside? Do people truly get off knowing that they are sucking the positive energy and vibes from someone? Is it because they were treated badly in their own lives and want to lash out on everyone because its "everyone else's fault"?

I realize they're operating under the guise that the one they're speaking with is actually the one who is allegedly angry, but we all know that this attitude is completely transparent. I'm wondering if this is a problem with society itself, TERA, the youngest gaming generation, or just an issue that comes up on the internet when you put a bunch of "bads" in one place.

I seriously doubt that one of these people would walk into a public establishment, knock the food out of a waiters hand and say "UMADBRAH". It is truly intriguing to see the way people act when they are safe behind a computer screen, I mean we are all aware of that. But honestly, like I said, it seems like this whole issue has been taken to a new level.

Thou angry?

I'd like to call it "Trolling"


Wouldn't trolling imply he didn't really mean it he was just posting for the reaction? Cause I have a feeling he really is just projecting his inadequacies on those around him in order to protect his iD from self actualization.

Unless you mean "trolling" as in contrary to your opinion. Cause then probably maybe POTATO!!!


IMO Yall all Are Trolls and I just me comments about someones comment and Lol @ how mad people get on stuff. Especially the guy who wrote that essay, dude is probably a professor thinking he grammer corrected well thought out essay is going to mean anything. >_<


The shocking thing is that grammatically accurate and pretty actually outweigh logic reason and factual data in all aspects of human communication regardless of the level of importance. Massive budgets are decided based on the presentation of proposals, not the content. Basically the entire human race is happening as a Special Olympics event and unless you appeal to the majority (epic tards that nature woulda taken care of in the wild) you can't get anything done.

Its not fair to blame the internet and anonymity for human stupidity. People were stupid long before the internet and will continue to be long after it becomes a footnote in the history database of our ChineseAppleComputer overlords.

People aren't stupid. They just act stupid to make other people act stupid and rage and get angry at them for being stupid.

The internet made it possible for all these types of people to "troll"

It is truly sad that the status-quot has become described as "epic tards", and that the majority of people have difficulty with utilizing "common sense". I don't understand why they call it "common sense" when it's not all that common.

People, in general, are simple by nature. (Generalized statement, I know...) While this is true, individually, each of us is complex in our own way. While you may not appreciate the fact that I can put out a well written and thought out opinion for others to view, I have little time to read peoples posts full of "LoL U mad bro", or other such nonsense.

I would much rather have a debate on something with someone who can put together full sentences and paragraphs, than try to wade through even ten posts that are full of acronyms or textspeech shortcuts for words that are a whole four or five letters long.

I bid you all good night, and good journeys.

Debating on the internet with people who don't really take you seriously is asking to get "Lol u mad bro."

Your debating on a thread which is for a game. It's not suppose to be serious. If you want serious stuff dealt with go to customer support. a Player Cannot change this game. The player can only guide you and tell you tips and tricks.

IF You want a serious debate about the issue. You have to word it and keep it simple. ~_~ and pretty much manage the thread urself.

P.S. making/writing nice on the internet is pointless. Your not being graded. Its not a thesis. Its not IMPORTANT.

But if thats how you normally write, more power to you.

I am a firm believer in the community policing itself when it comes to these types of individuals. Instead of high-fiving them and giving them accolades for being able to kill others that are much lower level or lesser geared than they are, ostracize them from the majority of the community and make them feel unwelcome. Do this to enough of them, they will stop, or quit playing because it's become too much of a bother.

Just my thoughts.


I wish folks would take your advice here... It is just like that fool or two who come to every thread and sh!t all over the topic just to piss people off... (guess since they can't be in game griefing folks they need to grief them in forums) Instead of arguing with them, (I won't name them because they would just be getting the attention they are looking for, but we all know who they are) Just ignore them as if they had never posted and they will be less likely to hang around and troll...

I personally try to never acknowledge them at all here or in game... I just /Ignore them in game... Wish I could do that here too, I have a few names I would filter from all posts since they provide no useful input to the conversation...

Just have to give trolls the old forum silent treatment, instead of feeding them... Not always easy to do since most of them have diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the brain...
