I've never really understood the point of a SSD at this point just because of the price. Are they really that awesome? Paying for an amp and solid headphones seems like a better use of money.

I dont even turn off my computer so boot times are out the window, and i dont mind waiting an extra 5 seconds for my game to load... so I personally would've put it towards a bigger moniter.

But thats just me

PC startup to play time is like 25 seconds. Faster loading screens, etc

Using an SSD makes your computer blazing fast, you boot instantly, you reboot instantly, you load any file, loading screen or such instantly. It's very noticeable, there's also less promoted features such as running completely silent, usually the only part of your machine that makes noise is your HDD and your fans, with the HDD being the most annoying because the sound is not consistent like a fan, well with an SSD there's no sound at all, it's also draining less battery so if it's for a laptop, that's sweet and also runs cooler than HDD.

That's pretty much it for me atleast. Once I tried SSD I could never ever switch back to an HDD. Just YouTube some HDD vs SSD and you'll get to see the speed differences, but you really have to try one yourself to get it.

Maybe once the price goes down I'll consider it.

for me, my pc start up to playtime is about 15 seconds running 2 SSd's in raid0

also running a gtx 580 core i7 2700k and 16GB of ram . i get 100 fps in wow with vsync off, on ultra settings in a 25man raid.

though i have one question, can having to fast of a computer cause problems? i've noticed a 3 second freeze every hour or so, its a bit annoying. also i think the hardrive slows down to almost a complete halt when i open certain program that load from it like Steam or a heavy game that loads a lot of data like age of conan. refreshing the explorer fixes it. its a clean install so no viruses.

Some SSD's have a freezing issue, my guess yours is one of them.

The price per space ratio is terrible for SSDs. I just put a new build together, and I was considering one. I decided to cut the cost and just pick one up later, when it's a better value.
