There was a thread earlier this week about someone having teleporting jaunt not working at all. I refrained from even making a thread about this skill cause I initially thought it was my end that was having latency problems.

I started having issues where I would use the skill, and the animation will teleport me accordingly, but rubberbands me back to my original spot. I noticed this happened for about 2 weeks ago, could be 3, but all that time, I was trying to figure out if there was certain triggers that would make me rubberband back. I was 99% positive that my internet was perfectly fine. I downloaded a few contents from the web to see if the speed lagged up or stream Netflix to see if there was any stutters.

Now through my testing, I notice that Teleport Jaunt will cancel itself if you teleport on a spec where it would cause collision. For example, have you ever went up a flight of stairs (whether on foot or mount), and your character would get stuck even on a rock or a plank that is sticking out? Teleport Jaunt would rubberband you back if the direction of it lands on that rock or plank. Now this is just my observation and I'll probably need more testing, but it happened more than once.

Another testing is, when using Teleport Jaunt while moving (holding down the WASD), will occassionally rubberband the character back. I spent about 30 mins on every cooldown just to test this. Without holding down the WASD keys to move, I just pressed my Teleport Jaunt hotkey to see if I will ever rubberband. I have not once rubberbanded. This is also just another theory, and I don't want to throw rumors out there, but just my observation.

I also believed this was just an instance issue, but it happens to me even in the world maps. I couldn't even debunk of what was causing rubberbands.

Anyone else noticed a pattern, or having similar problems? I really thought it was my internet at first cause, hence why I waited a few weeks to see if it simmered down, but it didn't.

I've definitely been having this problem regularly. I'm unsure of the cause but it presents as you've stated.

I agree with you on your assessments/observations on when it seems to break. Small pieces of collision do seem to cause the warp, and I did notice that if I was still first that it seemed to work fine. That's how I have dealt with the issue, just try to make sure I stop moving first. Pain though.

Well, a lot of times it could save my life and crystals. Prime example is in Fane of Kaprima, where Kaprima would randomly selects a target and throws a red circle around that player, and that circle is homing. Best way is to dodge is to move til the red circle stops for a split second, then to teleport out.

This involves the player to hold down the WASD key, and sometimes it rubberbands me right back into that circle of death. Frustrating frankly.

Another example is in Balder's Temple, where the last boss would also randomly selects someone and shoots a huge lazer beam. He will turn and follow you as you move til a split second where he will launch the beam. A few times I would rubberband right back into that lazer.

A few scenarios doesn't allow us to stand and let go of WASD to use the skill. We need to constantly be moving =/.

I have still never experienced any rubber banding on Teleport Jaunt, for either class that has the spell. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but when I jaunt onto or through a piece of terrain (stairs, walls, stumps, rocks, etc.) that would normally cause a collision, I simply collide with the obstacle instead of moving the full range of the spell.

I am rarely not moving around, but I do occasionally need to jaunt after I cast a spell while healing my groups. I have not noticed a performance difference in the spell between moving and stationary casts.

it isnt the colission thing. thats very diffrent, most noticibly the portal that appears in front of you only appears where the colission area is, and you teleport to there. wit hthe bug/rubberband your portal appears the full distance away, you teleport the full distance away, then you teleport back to where you were (with the half a sec rooted animation)

for me it ONLY seems to happen in dungeons (maybe once or twice ever outside of that). and it hapens more in hardmodes than normal modes :-/

TERA itself has rubberbanded. It went from just another MMO to the ads where they claimed it was a game for truly skilled players (ie FPS players), jaunting it all the way to TERA: True Action Combat.

Play it for a while though, get a character to 60 and get yer IL to the 140s.... then, you realize that long ago it had rubberbanded back to being a just another MMO, but you were to0 busy being happy with the fact that you didn't have to tab target yer enemies to notice.

I know what they are talking about. I am saying that, for me, they perform the same way. If I am going to land on or move through something that would cause collision, instead I don't. I do not have this issue because Teleport Jaunt works properly for me in every circumstance.

To clarify, I have a pretty average internet connection, often stream Netflix while playing, and share my (hard wired) connection with another person playing Tera (Wi-Fi), and a guy who is pretty much always playing LoL or streaming his own videos (Wi-Fi). I do not know if any of these things would cause issues or have any effect on performance, I am simply stating my point of data so it can be accounted for.

If you want it to work every time you use it, stop for about .2 seconds before casting it everytime. Its what I do, otherwise 1/2 the time it rubberbands and I lose half the distance if not more.

Good point about the collision. I never use it on/near stairs anymore, so I couldn't remember the behavior (only that it "broke"). I have also only ever seen it happen in dungeons, although that could be coincidental. 90% of the time, it's because I was running from something at the time.
