I guess to each his own as this fantasy setting drew me in a bit.
I will only use the last MMO i played as an example of what I found. But have played many.
in Swtor
I found that they just about maximized the amount of redundant running around it had to be at least 2 more times of running back and forth, nevermind playing the jumping game trying to get the matrix cubes. I found I stopped reading the story much earlier in swtor and just using spacebar to skip it. (i like the movies but story had its ups and downs)
In Tera there were some zones you did not have to clear to do the story and you can do the lower level instances more and do less quests other than the story ones or even just grind some repeatable quests. Overall pretty flexible.
Though in Swtor I liked the ability to pvp for xp as I did close to half my leveling that way.
In Tera I found the leveling a bit more interesting and yes easier, but even when I skipped a few quest reads I found myself getting into the story again in different quest areas. I see the questing while leveling as a way to learn new skills and how to use them since they add the 24-27 skills every 2 levels.
The questing for me was just quick enough to not feel like a drawn out grind. Though the curve supposedly gets a little harder at higher levels than the OB.
And when I got bored I grouped and ganked or pvped ect.. ( I attacked higher and lower, /me = not a carebear.)
