I generally think that there should be no LFD and no smart loot. Part of the game is working for what you have if we hafta deal with BOP yes that means you need to work somewhat harder for it. But thats part of what a MMO truly is at least in my opinion.

Whats the fun in everyone getting to the best gear available in the shortest period of time.. Why should everyone have the best of the best gear. I think of it as the elite the people who spent the most time reaping all the rewards. Logging in flagging up LFD and getting all the best gear because of some randomly generated smart loot tool means no one working for anything.. In a few months everyone has every class at 60 fully geared in "Elite" and quitting.

I'm not against these tools but I am against making the game easy

My issue with it (and this may not come around until Tera's raid content) is that a raid group in WoW, for example, can only run a raid once per week, and I've personally seen what happens when look that literally NO ONE in the party can use drops and continues to drop. Not only is it exceedingly frustrating, but it actually artificially holds back the progress of the group because they can't get the gear they need to progress further.

In Tera, this may be less of a problem, but it was easily the most irritating part of WoW, one of the parts that drove me from the game, really.

Most designers don't implement loot tables that way because it lengthens the carrot-achievement time. It's the "best" way to get people to keep running something, thus stretching out how long they subscribe. I'm really just stating the obvious, I know, lol. But it is annoying for sure. :-/

I don't think I'd be happy with a completely dynamic system that only rewards loot a class in attendance can use, but I would love to see it lightly implemented - loot tables are influenced by the classes in the group, not dictated by it. An increased chance of the loot being for the classes there. Not holding my breath for it, but I do appreciate systems designed like that.

random drops are..... random.
seems silly to do that extra check when you could just as easily get nothing at all. are you being trolled then?
sell it to the vendor. at least then you get some gold out of it.
the last thing we need is another game that acts like a free gear dispenser. low drop rates are a pain but guaranteed gear is boring. whats so terrible about getting a small pile of gold at the end of the run for your troubles? why does everything have to be super useful all the time? is it cause its an "outdated" mechanic? MUST people get that pat on the head after every single run? why is this an issue?
people are constantly fighting RNG in games and i just dont understand, its part of what makes it interesting.
i have shat bricks when i finally got the gear i need in other games. it feels awesome. why must it be made easier in a game that throw gear at you like rain during a tropical storm?

You are missing a point. And only because you never got shafted by the system (as with any argument/disagreement, people who pick a side, don't usually see the whole picture.)
I've been screwed by RNG when trying to tank in an MMO where min/maxing caused a certain set of gear to be the MINIMUM requirement to participate in almost all endgame content. (except 1 event which isn't really endgame)
I was there every run.
Twice a week we did this run.
Everyone wanted to go on, and do better things.
But we HAD to gear our tanks. (Me and 2 other people.)
There was no gear buy-able that would equal this drop, and all other "options" just didn't make the cut after players found a new way to tank. (Which in turn, the DEVs made all content harder to match this new play style.)
Any other armor to replace this, was on much harder content.
This armor was a crazy 33% chance to drop!
You would figure, heck this is cake, I can get this!

SIX F*CKING YEARS LATER the armor STILL did NOT drop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I quit the d*mn game, because I couldn't participate in endgame content. And the rest of my guild broke up, and went to guilds who had geared tanks.

Was it a fluke? sorta... you would be surprised how often this happened in that game.

Is this how it is? Yup.
Should I accept it? No. Why?
WHY should anyone except Bullsh*t RNGs when they could have BOTH a RNG AND a "coin" system. (Coin system referring to "do this event x number of times, and you finally earned the drop.")

Have the RNG drop rate really low, like 1% and you will still get excited if it drops the gear. You can still get excited for every run, hoping it drops.
But if it doesn't you feel like you can just keep working hard for 100 some runs, when you finally get that armor.

Now for "ABSOLUTE BEST ARMOR" maybe RNG is fine, since you don't NEED that armor, you just want it.

But if new content comes out, that REQUIRES that armor, slap on the "coin system" or something.

1. Getting the best gear in Tera is going to be done through the enchanting system, not from gear drops.

2. Going through a dungeon with an hour cooldown between entries, fighting all the way to a boss and watching it drop some BoP warrior swords with no warrior in the party is the definition of "Why the [filtered] bother?"

3. RNGs mean that casual players can get geared up faster than hardcore players. I've seen plenty of MMO players that have horrendous luck when it comes to getting the drops they want. Meanwhile, casual scrubs get what they need in half the time because they just happen to be lucky.

Why would you advocate the "lucky casual scrub system"?

Won't happen, the point of gear being random is to slow down progression. The point of slowing down progression is to make you play longer. The point of making you play longer is they get more sub money out of you to make more content that takes more time/money to do.

It's strictly business.

Tera will never beat out wow or any other game if it continues to take content away. The Masses will still do enchanting the way it is if the game has content and reward factors down pat. WoW and other BIG game names have bull[filtered] grindy stuff in them too but they never get mentioned because the game is always being updated with more content and more rewards.

The only thing a game needs to succeed is content and reward... Tera is taking content away because of people complaining about it so the more content that gets taken away the worse it will do in the long run.

Yeah, and this is why WoW at least has the valor point system to fall back on.

Waiting for the RNG gods to decide that you can, at LONG last, have some better gear royally sucks, especially when you've watched a bunch of lucky casuals who haven't played even HALF as long as you get the drops they need on their first run though, going "Durr hurr, it's so EAZY!"

+1 for this suggestion. I don't understand all the ones saying that we're asking for gear to be handed to us since no matter how you spin it, it's going to take a lot of time and effort to get fully enchanted gear which already has a RNG system in place. Having a piece of gear at least one person in the party can use is not that demanding considering you would still have to get lucky for your gear drop in the first place and win it against other party members (if of the same armor type).

Obviously the system is in place for something for players to work towards but at some point, waiting for the RNG to strike lucky becomes more of a chore and less of a game. Like I said, it's not like players won't work towards their gear, it's just so it'll be usable by SOMEONE (since they're adding BoP items anyway).

PS: It's not like you get you're one item do a quick enchantment and you're done, it's more like get your item then get more of that item so you can get a good item (by chance).
