It's stands getting to +6 or even +7 is generally not too hard if a tad expensive.
There is no actual NEED to even go that high though a lot of people argue that point.

The only way I can imagine to fix this without literally breaking the game, would be a special alakhest type or even new item type that can be slotted into an additional slot in the enchanting window to raise or promise success.
Still you'll have to build it up so it really takes something to get one of said item.
Otherwise it too will be meaningless.

And that'd be fine.

Then, people could either go for the guaranteed but slower route, or the faster but a gamble route.

We could look at enchanting's random segment as "optional" then, especially if there's a guaranteed means of achieving the same goal.

That I think is doable then most the other suggestions I have seen involve fundamentally changing the game.

I'm sure they'll cave and easy mode enchanting at some point for you and totally ruin any sense of accomplishment anyone gets from achieving a +9

You have that backwards. When you achieve something at random, it takes away all feeling of accomplishment because you'll know that you personally had nothing to do with your success.

In Aion, getting crafting beyond 400 (or 500, don't care to remember) required building a weapon and getting it to "proc" which meant becoming a better version of itself through luck. I managed to do this on the very first try for weaponsmithing, meaning I had (at level 32) something that most people spent 200 million kinah on and still failed to acquire.

Did I feel lucky? Yes. Did I feel accomplished? Of course not. I succeeded through pure dumb luck.

So no, I don't think Tera's enchanting system is going to make anyone feel good about their "accomplishments".

People who finally get +9 after 10,000 tries aren't going to feel good because they know there are dumb luck morons who got it in 9 tries, and the morons aren't going to feel good because they had nothing to do with the actual success.

A token-based enchanting system where BoP tokens (which are already in the game) drop from dungeons and can be spent on guaranteed alkahest are the way to go here.

That way, people are always working toward a goal instead of having no clue how much longer it will take and, when they DO get to +9, they can say for certain that they earned it.

Again, I LOVE Tera, but no amount of love for a game is going to make a bad progression system good, nor is it going to make RNG in a "skill-based MMO" any less conspicuous.

It's Murphy's law - anything can go wrong, you should feel accomplished with your luck cause not everybody has it.

I started almost twenty days ago and it's awesome. I wasn't going to try it but did and love it.

I just can't say "Yay, I did it!" when my "doing it" was the result of a RNG happening to come up in my favor instead of me doing it through my actual talents.

When I solo a BAM at level, I'm happy because that takes skill, something not everyone has.

Don't matter.. had RNG Success :)

Who cares if you won the lottery by buying a single ticket, or you did it by playing the odds, got investers and bought 40% of the number combinations on a investment gamble and won.

You won the lottery! Who gives a rats butt about Talent?

Exactly what kind of enchanting system do you envision that actually requires 'talent'
No matter how I've seen enchanting done there is never any 'talent' to it.
I have literally played so many mmo's at this point that I can't even remember the names of them all.

Never, in any of them has enchanting been 'talent based'.
