People dont have to act like Dbags, but more often than not, they do and thats usually because they pay too much attention to meters. Ive seen bad players kicked without a single reason given while the whole rest of the group/raid sit back and laugh about how bad they were.
I almost ALWAYS play a DPS role and have long before WoW was released. So I dont really care if we get meters or not. I will use them to improve my play if we get em. I'd prefer to play without because more often than not, people become major [filtered]s with meters.

Don't feel bad though, this one is on a volunteer basis so no one will force you to use it and it only monitors your own numbers so no one will spy on how poor your skill micro is and how you were checking out that priest's rack while everyone was fighting the boss.
You'll still be able to play with whoever you want, and have the plausible deniability in pugs to get carried to free loots. And no one will blame you if you don't want to install the thing since it won't even matter until later on in the hard modes when you have out-dps a boss' self-regen.
But for now, both the hardcores and the casuals pretty much got what they wanted.
Who exactly got ACT to work with Tera?
Again, the problem isnt with the meter itself. Ive said it before and I will say it again. Its a decent tool when used properly, however it has the tendency to turn players into bigger tools.
Everyone wants to kick the bad right away, and those players will probably stay bad until someone comes along and helps them out. Why not help them, or at least try to help them first before just instakicking them because they dont live up to your standards. It helps you, the run, the bad player and eventually the community.
Im not against meters. Im against dbags that think meters make them elite.
Koreans.
And you think that people must act like dbags why?
There are plenty of people who are happy to help people out. Almost everyone who hasn't played ktera will have something to learn in this game and will go into this game with the humility of being new. Having an impartial tool that can offer valuable data isn't suddenly going to change decent people into elitist jerks.
Those who act like dbags with a meter are dbags to begin with. Without a meter, they'll laugh at you for using the wrong gems, having the wrong glyph spec, or even using a skill that they think has no place in a perfect rotation. The meter is more likely to prove them wrong in that you can work in whatever mysterious fashion you want as long as you get the job done well.
If anything you should want a damage meter to be available precisely so that those dbags show their colors at first sight and you can avoid them with nimble social agility. It's a win-win.
