The pro-meter crowd can't seem to understand why there are MANY people that either don't want them or could care less if they exist, they just won't use them (I fall into the latter crowd). Let me spell it out for you.
It takes a fun game and turns it into not much more than playing an excel spreadsheet.
If I wanted to play a game where every dungeon run ends up being a pivot table, there's a game for that already. It's call WoW, and you can have it.
Only reason I'm against dps meters is cause people fail to notice this isn't a click to target and spam skills game. you need to dodge etc.Mostly for me (sorc) dps-ing is easy as long as i position myself well. But there are bosses where you'll need to dodge more than others. causing your dps to drop.
Also people will always want their runs to finish faster. so if they had an average 5k dps from their slayer last run. they gonna lie and say their last slayer had 6k and want you to do 6k+ too
(just an example)
Also I'm pretty sure using 3rd party programs that change your in-game experience in any way is illegal. at least i hope EME considers it illegal and bans people using it.
Just to say, @Lowbei, I don't think "Fact" or "Factual" means what you think it means.
Straight and Simple.
If EME sanctions the use of DPS meters, they will lose subscribers due to hardcore "Raid-[filtered]s" being [filtered]s and booting ppl left and right.
Anything that reduces the quality of the community in an MMORPG should not be allowed. Subscribers and a healthy community is what they should be worried about if they want to keep people playing.
DPS meters diminish the quality of a healthy community more than anything else they do.
simply because *I* am not a nice guy, and would boot people who werent performing up to par, doesnt mean the meter couldnt be used to "help" people who were trash to do better
even if you people wanna do 4+hour raids with 20wipes and everyones still all happyfuntime, thats cool, but if you had meters, you could at least see WHO needed help, and be all super nice and
dont worry, i will give a 3rd example, im such a nice guy nice for doing so, inorite?!?
warhammer
the final dungeon of the game, the tomb of the vulture lord, or tovl
the last 4 bosses enrage after 6 minutes if they havent died, enrage in warhammer means they one shot everyone, and quickly
good groups could do the dungeon, but random pugs usually didnt make it past the first few bosses
now im not saying the dungeon was hard, my group did it regularly and never wiped to anything, and finished it quickly, but i have seen pugs spend 4+ hours in there wiping to some terribly easy boss, simply because they dont have dps meters, and thus dont know that one or two of them arent pulling their weight.
I use dps meters to practice and to enhance my own dps for when I do groups. Without them I have absolutely no idea how Im doing.
Would you join a baseball team with absolutely no means of measureing your skill?
The only reason i never want to see a dps meter is coz of elitist tards like lowbei that spam 'bads' 'scrubs' and 'trash' at everyone that he thinks is below them.
Tbh, if i had the chance, i'd ban everyone that acted that way as it only EVER brings the community down.
What the hell's a DPS meter? Who cares who does the damage as long as the damage is being done? Also, what do you mean carebear? What, someone who doesn't pvp is a carebear? Those little psychos killed someone with a RAINBOW. You don't mess with carebears.
