Think you missed the point of the encounter being a DPS check and nothing more.

Just like the first boss of the instance.

I just watched the entire fight on youtube.

If you are talking about dpsing and chopping down the trees - not sure what the the penalty is for not chopping the trees down in time, but either way, it is what is considered a soft enrage.

I.E. The boss is idle while the dpsing is being done.

People are standing still and dpsing a stationary object. Harldy a task that anyone is going to have difficulty with that plays TERA.

Standing still and unloading on a tree - hardly counts as a serious DPS check.

That fight still appeared to be 95% about avoiding the Gorillas attacks.

Meters are just tools; unfortunately so are many of the people that use them. Meters themselves aren't the issue, idiots misusing them are what most people don't want. I've solved this issue in the past over many games by grouping with good, smart people but I understand that many people don't want the hassle at all.

There are a lot of terrible arguments on both sides of this issue in here and a lot of you are hurting your own cause.

I will complement this by saying it's perfectly reasonable to assume the VAST MAJORITY of the playerbase will misuse such a thing. And that's what will have a very negative impact on the game as a whole.

No no let's have some people have dps meters. You know how many nerd rage videos their are on youtube for WoW with people having dps meters and yelling at how bad someone is over team speak and vent ect? We need to become the next WoW right now and be the most nerd raging game of this century, who wouldn't laugh at all the nerds screaming over numbers in a video game? I for one support this idea to the fullest extent and will be ready to record the rage as it happens time and time again.

Nerd rage for all!

The same thing could be said for area chat.

Not really.

You're not a min/maxer. You don't care about improving your game play. About getting better. About trying to do the most and squeeze every single last ounce of efficiency.

You just play the game and have fun doing whatever. There is no "good players" or "bad players". There's just players.

That's cool. You should form a guild and do content with those like minded players.

Other people however are the exact opposite. That's cool to. They should try and find like minded players.

But you sitting here and telling everyone that you know best, that you've seen into the future, that the impending doom is just around the corner if this very basic feature (that has existed since the days of Ever Quest) is allowed into the game.

We're the crazy ones. Not you. Gotcha!

Being a min/maxer is not the only (or the best) way of improving my playing level. That's what you fail to realize.

Again, Daays, please read this:

The real problem with all you DPS meter-lovers is very simple:

YOU RELATE HIGH DPS WITH GOOD PERFORMANCE.

This is not the case with TERA, simple as that. First because too high DPS actually creates aggro-related problems, secondly because TERA's combat system focus more on positioning and moving than sheer damage output.

You guys talk like "high DPS = good performance". So, "to get higher DPS = improving performance"

You are SO OFF, and SO WRONG. Good performance in TERA is about knowing when to move, when to jump away, when to defend. It's about awareness, it's about split-second decisions which mean life or death for you.

A DPS meter will just fly you all off-course by thiking that better DPS = better performance, when it's actually WORSENING your performance, as you'll be paying more attention to your damage output than your surroundings.

If you're not paying attention to the boss or mechanics of the fight you're dead.

In which case your DPS is zero.

Since you claim that's all what people who want a combat log parser care about, your entire argument is void.

Now how many times has this been said for these DPS meter threads? Have we all not been playing the same game for the past few weeks to know that DPS meters in this game make no actual sense? But still I want to be the second most rage game ever so I'm still for the DPS meters it will also show the world how extra stupid the tera community could be not that I want it to be that way but if we rage over DPS in this game then we are gonna make that title. Let's work together on this! 3rd party DPS for all!

Then what if they don't die themselves, but put a truckload of strain on the healer, which ultimately causes a wipe? Can you honestly say the trigger-happy DDs will admit their fault?

EDIT: BlissiB has a very valid point here.

You guiys only want a tool to help you min/max. So you can brag about it to other people, and also chastize those people for not being "good" as you. No, I don't want that kind of [filtered] in my TERA. And so doesn't a lot of people.
