If you'd like to enter the real world for moment...
You seem to think this has any bearing on anything.

Sure most people will look at the Elin and see a sexualised child.
And some people look at GTA and see a murder simulator.

What do these people have in common? They're both wrong. :D

How is caving in to one group's demands preferable to caving in to one other group's demands? How about, respect their decision.
Only one side was making demands. The other side didn't exist until those demands were caved into. And the first side may in fact be a fictional side, as EME have never offered any justification for the censorship.

Why does EME have to make a justification. They did what they did to make the product marketable in whatever demographic they put it in. They do not have to tell us why. It's their product, They can do with it as they wish. If they wanted a higher rating then they would of put in all the nudity etc. But they didn't. This is what we got and I am happy with it, else I wouldn't of bought it.

EME dosen't have to make any statement to anyone why or how they made this decision, and they shouldn't. Personally I think it was a revenue decision. An AO rating would of been far less marketable.

well they did market the game one way and then right before release they dropped the hammer without any justification. as a result, expect censored armor to come out of korea for future updates. It kill the aesthetics of the game..

Kailthir, an AO rating requires such content that the game would border Hentai/Pornography. Mild nudity and sexual themes would keep the M rating they have. As for them having to give justification? No they don't but it would benefit them to at least address the issue instead of sweeping it under the rug and hoping everyone forgets.

Well, for one, they are a business. They tend to justify their actions very carefully.

That would be a justification.
But they have not stated, let alone substantiated, that justification.

Would a little more nudity have gotten a higher rating? It was my impression that they chose to self-censor. Since, you know, that's exactly what Frogster said.

Obviously I am sufficiently happy too since I also bought it. But what does that have to do with anything?

To be honest... i really do not see the controversy, or the issue. I would rather EME make statements and justifications on why a siginificant group of users cannot log in or seem to have their subscriptions cut off etc. Bugs and bug fixes are much more important to me, especially in a game that is newly launched. They have to be ontop of that stuff or else they lose subs.

So what if I can't see pubic hair or nipples... good. Why would I want to see that? I honestly do not see the need for nakid toons. I don't see how it could make the game better. For me it would turn me off to the game. It's almost like some people need the shock factor or contrtoversial issues and drama in their lives.

Like I said I don't understand the drama of the issue. EME deployed the game as it is. If they self censured or whatever... it happened. This is what we got and it's a great and wonderful game. Just need a few bugs fixed.

Congratulations, you may now leave the thread.

Incidentally, I can log in and my sub didn't get cut off, so i really do not see the controversy, or the issue there.

Kailthir, apparently you aren't mature enough to appreciate this argument. The real issue is that they are unnecessarily censoring a game that even states on the package that it is designed for players 17 and up. We're being treated like children with someone telling us that they know what is good for us and we have no idea what we want.

Imagine if you will this, they changed that to make the game friendly to a single demographic but what if later they decide they want to appease another demographic and make all female characters be forced to be crafters who can only equip robes and can't leave towns. Or maybe they'll make it where if you die then it's game over and you must buy another copy of the game to play again. I could list hypothetical situations all day but the fact remains the same, one small step can lead to disastrous results.

Wither or not they unnecessarly censored the content is irrevelent. They did what they did. You may say unnecessarly, maybe they didn't feel or think that way. Maybe they felt it was the right thing for them to do. Maybe it was for financial reasons, IE to open up a larger player base. Point is they can do whatever they want to do without any of our say.

Ofcourse if they instituted the things that you said in your second paragraph, it would spell disaster for them as a company. Would never happen. I think you are going way overboard.

Basically what it seem in this post, is some people do not like the decision that they censured a small cosmetic portion of the game, and feel entitled, and some down right demand an answer. Like they are required to give one.

This is the point I am making they are not required or need to say anything. If they choose to fine, if they choose not to... fine. None of us are entitles to any statements on the issue. This is how the game was launched. It's not like we were blindsided. Least I wasn't.
