It's not about what they are, it's how you do it.
For example, you head to this village where they're constructing something.
Your first quest is to kill off the guards (kill X amount quest)
Gather 10 fire sticks (gather X amount quest)
Quest auto updates, instead of running back to an NPC, and tells you to place the fire sticks at a certain point (go here quest).
Something blows up, more guards come (kill X amount quest). You need to gather a blanket to protect you from the fire.
You make it out, named boss shows, you kill him.
Everything can be broken down to the most basic of components. It's just how interesting you make it.
To be honest, the biggest thing are quests auto updating instead of running back to the NPC, then back to the area, then back to the NPC, then back to the area, then back to the NPC, then back to the area, then back to the NPC.
With that said, questing in TERA is very bland. But it's to be expected. Korean game afterall.
