As of right now TERA is moving in the direction of failure. Many of people who were playing at launch have moved on or back to other games. This is no coincidence, there are several reasons for this. Here is a list of things En Masse has to focus on these fixes/changes if they want to save their game. Without these changes the game will fail, slowly but surely it will fail.
-Add replay value : Besides being a different class or race, there is no replay value of this game. After getting one character to level 60, getting the second is a horrible boring grind because of the repetitiveness of the quests and the linear storyline. Knox has mentions possibly adding a button or function to auto skip a new character to level 60 if you already have an endgame character. That is a mistake and a horrible idea. It will only work towards diminishing the value of an endgame character as well as making what class you originally pick not necessary. Why level as a priest if a person can level as a class that has better solo play and then when getting to 60 just autoskip a priest there. But yeh, back to the topic, there needs to be more replay value.
-Fix/Redone crafting : As it is crafting is horrible. It's expensive, tedious, and broken. I'm not gonna go into details here because I'm sure anyone who has tried crafting knows exactly what I am talking about. This is important for obvious reasons, that people expect a working crafting system.
-Weekly Patches: Right now there is bi-weekly patches. I understand that the size of en masse is small but there needs to be weekly patches. Weekly patches doesn't mean new content every week but what it does mean is there hotfixes and small changes that are easy to do instead of having to wait two weeks for a small bug fix. This would also mean more balances which is desperately needed.
-Class Balances: This needs to be a priority asap. Certain classes such as archer and berserker have been broken since launch. Balances should be implemented quickly, considering they are not hard to spot. These character balances need to happen way more often then they do, and they need to be out quicker than 2 months after the community begs for balances.
-Purpose to PvP: There needs to be a purpose to world PvP as well as GvG. As it stands there is no point besides bragging rights, which is all well good if you care to brag, but most people want something other than that for their time. There are many suggestions to fix this, some good, some bad but either way there needs to be purpose.
-Purpose to Vanarchy: The vanarchy system is one thing that is suppose to set TERA apart from other games. Right now, it's a waste of time and money for a guild/person to run for vanarch. The vanarchy quests are a waste of time that offer few vanarchs real benefits besides a faster mount (by 10% which a person can just buy a mount 10% slower from cash shop for lvl 20). The stores being closed just upset playerbase and the stores being open offer little real benefit to vanarchs unless you are a vanarch in one of the 4 endgame zones.
-Nexus Overhaul : Nexus either needs to be overhauled or scrapped completely. It is the biggest failure in the entire game. Besides the fact that it is a slide show, it should not award PvP gear(let alone the best PvP gear). It needs to be scaled down from a server wide zerg event that no one really enjoys. The fact it's a server wide zerg everyone gets massive amount of lag. It also means that I can just go to nexus, throw on regenerating crystals to negate the debuff and just eat some popcorn. As long as I attack the boss once, I'm golden. This needs to be changed because it requires very little skill for great gain. To top it off, because it is such a large scale event it has to be scheduled. This isolates a lot of players and makes a very unfair atmosphere. One of the major appeals to this game is PvP, this makes PvP not fun. Honestly the best possible route would be to scrap the whole thing, take the gear and make gear available via Battlegrounds which actually is PvP.
-Speedy Release of Battlegrounds: It is taking too long for battlegrounds to come out. There are a lot of people hanging their entire subscription on it. What I mean is, they are dis-satisfied with the rest of the game and this is either gonna make or break them. The reason for this is how long it is taking them to release it. The more anticipation people have for it, the more likely it will not reach their expectations.
-Battlegrounds 1-59: Battlegrounds should not be level 60 only. This is a big mistake. People are expecting there to be brackets to give them something to else to do besides questing when leveling up.
-*- Enchanting: This needs to be made into a crafting skill and not the entire basis of endgame. It is what endgame is focused around, so to most people endgame is focused around wasting gold and failure. There are many fixes to this including upping success rates, nerfing how much it improves the gear, making a certain amount of failures before auto-success, etc. As of right now, this is the main cause of people unsubscribing. If this game wants to be successful at all, and not F2P within 6 months it NEEDS to fix this garbage system. It is a filler for real content and real endgame, and players are painfully aware of this.
-Chronoscroll Removal: There are plenty of benefits to chronoscrolls for those who can't afford monthly subscriptions but besides that it is a disgrace to the game itself. Even if players would be buying gold either way it is horrible for a company to support such behaviors. With enchanting being the way it is, making it legitimate to buy gold from the game company will create much unbalance. A player can just buy a chronoscroll, sell it for like 9000g then dump all that gold into enchanting, and then become really geared end-game with little to no work (especially considering all the enigmatic gear is BoE...)
-Make Tier 12 and Tier 13 ENIGMATICS BoP: It is quite ridiculous that these items are not BoP. With the release of chronoscrolls with enigmatic's being BoE a player can easily P2W. It also makes it so a new level 60 can get really geared really quickly without running any dungeons at all if they have enough gold.
-More Endgame Dungeons/Hards : There should be way more than two level 60 dungeons and 4 hard modes. The more variety in hardmodes the longer players will stay for endgame. BT and FoK get incredibly boring after running each 25 times each for fodder for enchanting failures. It's not fun, and its appeal vanishes quickly.
-Vanity Shop : Subscribers don't appreciate being charged for content they are already paying $15 a month for. En Masse can't have it both ways. They need to choose F2P or P2P. Though it does appear from the latest Q&A with Brain Knox they are making a choice and it seems to be F2P. The new mount, is just absolutely belittling of the game. It is the same price of the game on Amazon, so the company is basically saying that the one mount is worth the same amount of the rest of the content in the game.
-Fix Billing Issues: Allow people to cancel their accounts without going to live support, don't charge people who have unsubscribed for the new month, send them cancelling surveys. Th current practices of this company if by mistake or on purpose has casted a very negative light on the company. A lot of people just straight up don't trust En Masse anymore. Also, it's nice when a company asks players why they are unsubbing that way they can make changes in the future to try to get those subscribers back.
These are just 15 of the things that need to be fixed, there are plenty of more as well but these should have priority. Fixing these things are the only way En Masse will get the people who have unsubscribed (and those who will unsubscribe between now and next subscription renewal) back. It's combat system is pulling all the weight, it is the only reason (maybe besides Elin lol) that people are sticking around with this game. Maybe next time, we will all learn to not buy games from companies (BHS) who steal their game engine from another company. Cuz, the engine is the only reason people are here
