The availability and cost of runes

I was curious how people/guilds are going about skilling up crafting due to the high cost of runes?

Is the only way to make a alt and slowly farm BAMS? Or are guilds pooling the resources together to level up a crafter?

the cost of runes on my server are

archrune of titan = 15-20g for 1
archrune of arun = 12-18g

how is your server?

this is feral vally btw

On Frost Reach, the lowest I've seen Archrunes of Arun for is around 6g each, though I'm assuming this is because we are further behind as far as the number of people at max level.

Archrunes of titans tend to sell for more, but they are MUCH easier to obtain. I was getting 3-7 a drop every few kills of the level 49 naga on Serpentis Isle. (I'm Lv52, so the drop rate will probably be worse if you're 60.) In maybe an hour and a half I obtained around 50 Archrunes of Titans.

As far as pooling runes goes, it does help but you'd definitely have to be in a guild of 100+ people for it to really speed the leveling process any significant amount of time unless you had some dedicated farmers specifically working on farming archrunes.

I'm hoping they change drop rates eventually, because for most people it is going to take months to reach max crafting in any armor/weapon crafting I'm sure. I used all the runes that about 4 people obtained getting from early 40s to 50 AND got all of 4 crafting levels....

you can go on a lvl 60 char and farm the lvl 40 bams for runes, the problem I got is off normal mobs I need to make an alt to grind just for those runes

I take that back about the 4 levels I got from using all of the runes that 4 people could gather from 44 to 50, and I do this for 2 reasons:

1) I found out the alchemist was also using them for "cheap" skill ups. -_- Cheap for him maybe...

2) I recalled a time i crafted a few white boots to enchant some superior Lv50 boots before I was 250 crafting and the recipe used archrunes.

Between these 2 things I lost probably 12 crafting levels at least considering that once you craft the white boots/gloves, you can recraft them into enchantable versions for only archrunes of titans.

The result is pooling runes isn't as bad as I previously thought.

And while buying runes in the cash shop sounds like a great idea, 12 for the same price as a month of subscription? I'd rather farm archrunes on a mystic.... I guess if you have hundreds lying around or you just REALLY want to be first Mastercrafter.

It was kind of chuckle worthy the first ten times you made a reference like this.

Now it's just stupid and old.

lol. True.

Laecius, after 20 hours of cash shop threads, -surely- my 7 or so little references haven't been the straw that broke the camel's back. The point is that, much like the argument used on vanity skins, your crafting level doesn't directly affect game performance and, as such, is clearly something that a large swath of the forum would agree to have monetized.

There are twenty bajillion threads on the stupid vanity shop. This guy asked a serious question about the game, and you hijack it with more vanity shop antics. Uncool.

It was (as intended) overlooked until you came back to make something out of it.

Still, to the OP of this thread, I do formally apologize. It was not my intent to hijack your thread, and I sincerely apologize. I won't post anything further on this, except to say that the cost of Runes -is- out of whack, and apparently the only way to get them now is either straight BAM farming (and hoping you don't outlevel to where they don't drop anymore) or through the broker. This is one of the things that they need to get a look at -immediately-, and something I've been talking about since about CBT2.
