The need for Battlegrounds, Sooner then later, a letter torwards the developers

Hey all,

Let me start by saying this post is directed torwards to developers, and not meant to start a flame/rage war.

The game, so far, has amazed me. I love the combat system, I love to graphics and the general feel of every area. I like how every class has its traits, and you dont try to make classes 'that can do everything'. I love how you feel no shame in taking cliché's from other games because you seem to perfect them in my eyes. You take what is good an apply it. So far all praise torward Tera.

However, you guys are heading for a cliff, one that I have seen to many times in other MMO's. I will not claim there isn't end-game content, there is, the hardmode dungeons, Nexus which will go live soon, the political system, Gvg's. It's all decent (I love how the dungeons aren't easy-mode like most MMO's these days).

BUT you are lacking. And the biggest complaint here is the lack of the Battlegrounds. Everyone is superexcited to take this awesome combat system, and use it in battlegrounds. It just sounds amazing. It can become the heart and soul of your game, and will ensure a long life for this MMO, something most people will want.

In order for Tera to survive, and not lose most of its players to other games (think WOW expansion, GW2, even Diablo 3) or just stop playing because there is too little to do nonetheless (HM dungeons take a long time to find a party if youre DPS) you REALLY have to get these battlegrounds in sooner then later !!

Im not one to ask for a product that isn't finished. I understand you want to deliver something that isn't half-assed, and will provide us with the fun we want. But this premise will become useless if most of the people have moved on by then. I love this game right now, and really dont want to leave it, but if we have to wait another 3-4 months for battlegrounds, you WILL lose most of you playerbase.

So what should you do? Dont give us a rushed project, but put WAY MORE priority on battlegrounds. Double your people working on it, put some stricter deadlines, inform the public more, etc. If you dont your game will fall down that same cliff i mentioned before (Where SWTOR, Warhammer, Aion all fell off). THIS is the time where your decisions matter the most for the survival of your game.

As a plea of someone that doenst want to stop playing your wonderful game, please work on the battlegrounds harder, its what the community wants and NEEDS. Without it we will perish, with it we will flourish. Let us wait for 3 months and we wont wait, bring them out in a month (and publicise this!) and we will stick with you.

Tl; dr We need Battlegrounds sooner than later, or this game will perish allong with its community. This is why the developers should acknowledge that this needs a higher priority (f.e. more manpower) which would lead to faster development and implementation.

The battlegrounds will come when they come. If they come earlier then they will had been rushed. Raising priority on something rushes it and can put it out before it is ready.

Actually, raising its priority, by adding manpower to its development, will make sure you have a finished product in less time. As i stated above, I do not wish to have a rushed, unfisnished product, BUT (again as stated above) if they do not raise the priority, the wait for battlegrounds will prove to be too long and thus the downfall of this game.

It's set to release with a content update. You place higher priority to it will rush things. It is never as simple as throwing time and manpower at things. In fact throwing too much time and manpower at it can make it worse/slow development/lower quality.

You want battlegrounds, just set up DMs as that is all the BGs were before they were removed.

Im not here to provide a cut-clear solution, but just present the fact that this game is making the same mistake many MMO's made that failed after the first few months.

If you wait another 3 months to introduce BG's, the mass population WILL move on. I don't need a crystal boll to predict this, nor do I want this to happen. That is the problem. Instead of trying to come up with a solution, you all just seem to lay down by this very depressing fact as if you aren't really getting the message.

Change or die, find a solution or wither away.

I honestly doubt that the DM-option is enough of a solution to keep most of the masses here, as it is something that will work maybe once a day (at most), and only on peek hours.

Feel free to provide some other solution, but stating that this is unevitable and unfixable is plain dumb. Again I'm not one to ask for a product that isn't finished. I understand you want to deliver something that isn't half-assed, and will provide us with the fun we want. But this premise will become useless if most of the people have moved on by then.

Either you help make Enmasse understand this, try providing a solution or notice in 2,5 months that all the people have moved to some other game. Your choice.

Eventually they will implement something like that in NATERA we just need to be patient and wait for it. I'm just spending my time getting equips and leveling alts now, if you have to, take a break and play another game untill the updates come in to play. Just keep your self busy untill then but I'm sure they will add those soon.

I would be happy to see them sooner than later solely because not everyone has the patience I have and I want this game to be as successful as possible.

I'll be waiting when they arrive, but if that is too late or not, only time will tell.

En Mass has no control over getting the battlegrounds sooner. They do little to no actual development. We have to wait for patches to go through in Korea, then EME westernizes them adding or removing some things. It's not about laying down, it's about picking your battles and realizing that there is a substitute for organized pvp in the game, it just takes a little effort.

I also think yo greatly over estimate how many will move on just because there's no battlegrounds.

We are working hard for the end of summer release of battlegrounds.

In the short term we are working on getting GvG on the PvE servers which should be a fun semi-organized PvP experience for those servers.

I do not doubt you, and your team, is working very hard. But again, I do not believe I am overstating the problem, I believe you are understating it.

Its very good news to hear youre bringing GVG to PVE-servers, but again, this does not solve the problem of the mass of PVP-people (which all started on PVP-servers to begin with, and thus do not benefit from your newly added feauter you just mentioned)

Again, I do not doubt you are working hard, I jst feel that the way it going now, and with the current deadline, you will lose your people. It would be the same sad thing that happened to Warhammer, Aion and SWTOR. And i for one do not want to see that happen. I truly hope I have brought over my message to you and that hopefully you will be able to release the battlegrounds before it appears to be too late.

Anyways, I thank you for reading and responding to my post. Good luck :)
