The real difference between Tera and GW2

PROGRESSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GW2 does NOT have progression PvE at endgame. Once you reach max-level, thats it (in terms of progression). You can run instances and events over and over for vanity stuff, but pretty much thats it.

There will NOT be progressesively more difficult content released (other than full expansions) nor is there a way to progress your toon at maxlevel.

In other words, GW2 PvE is a LOT more casual. You can be certain you will not see any of the hardcore PvE guilds like Ensidia or Paragon in GW2.

Progression PvE is what you do like 95% of the time in other MMOs (other than PvP). GW2 is missing that, so this game might or might not be for you. It is not a bad thing, it is just different.

The reason I started this thread is because I see a lot of people going into GW2 thinking it is fundmentally like Tera or SWTOR or WoW, but with a lot more group activities, dodging and no holy trinity of tank/healer/dps. I think there are a lot of people who are not aware about endgame in GW2 and will be disappointed about the lack of progression.

That is by far the biggest difference between Tera and GW2. Everything else is not even worth mentioning by comparison.

P.S. I will definately be playing GW2 for its awesome looking PvP, but I like PvE progression so I will be playing Tera the rest of the time.

P.S.2. I am not saying that GW2 has no endgame PvE, because it does. I am saying that it does not have PROGRESSION endgame PvE ( you know, that little thing you do 95% of the time in other MMOs). Those are two very different things.

If you are playing GW2 to get to max level, you're doing it wrong.

Well at some point you will get to max level. That is when the Story and Progression ends for PvE. There is nothing wrong with that though. Since this is a B2P game, you can just play other games between expansions and not have to worry about maintaining a constant subscription. It is not a bad model. It just won't be like WoW, SWTOR, and Tera whose purpose is to continuously play to infinity.

Stop being a troll and go away. If you dont want to participate in the discussion then don't. The rest of us are bored while waiting for the servers to open and want to discuss the various aspects of other MMOs compared to Tera while we kill time.

/agree

GW2 is supposed to hold your attention for as long as there is content.
There is ALOT of content (not just PvE/PvP/WvW, but minigames as well :D...I'm gonna bar brawl and keg brawl this weekend)

However, you can run out of content. If you have no will to farm for titles and such or get the coolest looking gear for your characters, you can put the game down and just wait for an expansion.

And guess what? All you did was put down $60...same as any other single player game.

That's ALSO why the sub options for TERA appealed to me. Every 6 months, I just don't buy 1 new single player game and I can cover the cost of TERA.

GW2 was not built to take the place or kill ANY MMO. It's model specifically is built around coexisting with other games.

OFcourse its more casual. You can install and forget about it for weeks and come back to play. You don't pay monthly.
