So, just posted this in another thread, thought I'd reiterate here in case no one's been considering:

I'mma throw this in here, if you're going to roll alts, consider waiting to Headstart.

So far:
-VoT is locking people in and not allowing them to even look at other servers
-The player-limit caps for servers should still be in play for OB. I know it'll be gone at headstart/launch, but haven't seen anything regarding them being lifted pre-then (link if I'm wrong).
-EME is probably not too worried about 'fixing' this, because it's only going to be an issue until Launch, then these artificially low caps are gone forevs
-This seems to have surprised the heII out of EME, so even though I assume they're trying to find out what else it may screw with, it's uncharted waters

Reasoning:
-Since VoT has locked people from viewing other servers, full servers during OB have the potential to keep you from playing on other servers by extension (which will be almost certain if you make the char "as" the server reaches capacity).
-No, I can't be certain (and think it's -fairly- unlikely) that it will affect you if you make a char and then 'leave' the server and are already on a different one as it reaches full and locks. But there's no guarantee.
-However, if you log into a full server that you already have an alt on, there's another decent chance that it'll keep you from returning to your home server, as demonstrated per ECC and VoT not letting people use other servers.

Thusly:
-Rolling an alt on a server that gets filled and locked by the people who haven't pre-ordered and just want to 'see' the game may end up screwing up your ability to play.
-Just wait til Headstart for alts, then you can make them on your own server, and it's not worth risking three days of pre-play that carries over into Live just to poke another server and see how it wiggles.
-If you roll alts anyway, and any part of this prophecy comes true, I will laugh at you.

NOTE: This is not meant for people that have a main on a full server; I'm sure you'll be able to log on and in fine. This is just for those that may end up with server-to-server complications.

ADDED NOTE: They HAVE added more capacity for OB, so slightly less concern about this, although with people still wanting on VoT... :\

Yeah rolling alts is kinda pointless during OBT. Can't share the bank, less chance to form bonds with the community if you are constantly server hopping. And the issue above. Just focus on your main till you hit 32, get as much gold/gear you can and call it a day. then when headstart happens rince and repeat for the 6 more levels that you get to cap 38, THEN if you have time left, roll alts.

It's my plan anyway.

As nice as these kinds of threads are, Chasing, the fact is the noobs aren't going to read them.

Agreed. If I hit cap I'm gonna spend the rest of the time loading up on repeatables for easy Headstart levels.

It's one per server. One per account is for early character creation.

You mean in the short sentences and ideas and small words, or with that structure, or with so many dang commas?

I use the same vocabulary, yeah, but the structure and some of the run-on-sentences are for the forums. It helps to break down ideas into bite-size chunks here, I've found. :)

You will not be locked from other servers if one server with one of your chars is full.
