I doubt Enmasse really cares till they see their current subs starting to decline and I doubt any posters here care because face it TrollERA is full of trolls,sh*tty GM'ing, and a bunch of pot holes that their developers seriously need to get off their asses on and address.
Then in the midst of this all they add in a "Greedshop" to nickel and dime what subscribers their game was able to attract in the 2-3 weeks it has been out. For those simple enough to defend the actions of this company enjoy having less money in your pockets, for those smart enough to realize this is just the beginning to the nickeling and diming I'm glad you're smart enough to put your foot down.
Anytime you see 80+ pages of people complaining about an action your company took on a product that means you f'd up plain and simple. If the reception is so bad you have to consolidate streams of complaints into a single thread you really need to rethink your business actions.
I assume that those not understanding (that means people under the age of 18) just why people(adults) are so upset about a simple "cash shop" let me explain it to you.
We have jobs, we have bills, we have other priorities that are far more relevant to spend our dollar on. We purchase games as a form of entertainment/escapism, a way to relax and avoid the every day hassles of life. However, when that form of escapism becomes a hassle itself to which it makes itself clear and known that it's more interested in being just another bill rather than something reliant on the purpose of enjoyment it is no longer seen as something that is pleasurable. Paying bills isn’t pleasurable, spending money isn’t pleasurable, not getting your moneys worth isn’t pleasurable.
Adding a “Cash shop†into a game is just a symbol of greed. There’s no work in transferring a character, changing a name, or even altering an appearance. It is all bits and bites that take less than a key stroke to alter. These are features that should have always been free as a courtesy to subscribers who already pay to enjoy the features of your game. Instead of building a good report with your subscribers by showing them you care about their satisfaction you’d rather copy the business model of another company whose game is further developed than yours and whose profits are far greater than yours. I’m not sure who’s providing business consultation and making the decisions at your company but if you’re basically a startup developer/publisher copying the business model of an established company YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!.
Your product isn’t in the life cycle where you are in a position to demand ANYTHING from your customers outside of a satisfying game experience. Even Blizzard (the companies whose business model you’re following) did not start charging customers with a cash shop until, their game had first developed its player base. Then when they noticed a trend/need they began to offer “paid servicesâ€. Instead of developing your “player base†and trying to do everything you can in your power to get people interested in your game, and coming up with new ideas to get people to play you’re trying to scheme up ways to nickel and dime them for things “NO ONE HAS REQUESTED!â€
Everything your company should be addressing has been placed into numerous threads on this forum. Fix LFG, Fix the in game item problems, do something about all the trolls you have in your game, if your GM’s aren’t doing sh*t fire them and hire ones that will and if they are doing sh*t and there’s not enough of them hire some more. Either way after paying 50-80 dollars for your game the last thing anyone should have to deal with is in game nonsense.
Rather than sitting down in your board room figuring out how to make more money off the subscribers you do have by coming up with these double dipping penny pinching ideas that were never favorable to begin with why not come up with ideas to make the game more enjoyable? I’m quite sure if you offered Free name changes, customizations, etc to subscriber accounts up to a limited number of times say 3-5 and THEN started charging if someone decided to go past the free number of changes you set for names, transfers, and customizations you wouldn’t have 80+ pages of people complaining but 80+ pages of people cheering for you.
It’s a shame I went from enjoy this game to wanting to throw it out the G-damn window in less than 2 weeks. The game you advertised TERA to be was one to stand out from other MMO’s by being unique but what is unique when you copy and past everything about those MMO’s you want to separate yourself from and incorporate it into your “New unique gameâ€. I’ll tell you what that make it, it makes it OLD. Tera is now a tired game with a tired scheme that we’ve all seen before and hated, only this time you can use your controller to play. That is what you have turned TERA into. A new game with old problems. It was clay in your hands, it could have been molded into a great game or a pile of clumped up sh*t and guess which one you turned it into?
If you can’t guess I’ll give you a hint…SUBSCRIPTION CANCELLED have a nice day.
I honestly won't miss this game as it was mostly trolls I tried to avoid when I played instead of the monsters but I do miss the 80 bucks I wasted on the CE and the shame I now place on myself telling others how good I "thought"(past tense) the game was and fooling them into buying it.
