This was interesting.

So, since everyone was so shocked about the seemingly-drastic health increase in mobs within the 50s, I decided to do a bit of combat logging.

First, I took a level 54 melee creature in Elenea. It was called a Carnage Fiend.

I did roughly 94,303 damage to the creature before it died. There is perhaps a margin of inaccuracy of about 1-3 thousand damage from the strike that killed it.

So, 94k health on a level 54 mob.

I then went back to Dragonfall, and found a level 52 melee mob called a Runekeeper Deceiver.

On the level 52 mob, I did about 49,731 damage before it died. There is a margin of inaccuracy of about 2-4k from the strike that killed it.

In conclusion, mob health doubles in two levels.

And yes, I made sure that both mobs were single-pulls. No double-pulls, no minion mobs. Just two single-pull melee mobs.

I also made sure that I cleared my combat log after each attempt.

I would have run more tests, but the difference was so startling that it really didn't matter.

Thoughts?

Did you take a look at the exp difference?

I'm level 54. Due to my level, the experience gained would have been vastly different on the lower level mob either way.

The only consistent was the amount of damage I did before it died.

I went back and checked the Exp.

42,000 from the 52, and about 52,000 from the 54.

Seems about right.

I'm lv 55 and I'm kinda pissed at the mobs at my level because they're so hard to kill, and they hit uber hard.

Soloing at this level is a pain in the butt

but I recall getting about 2x the exp . . . . .

lv 52 mob giving around 24k exp and lv 54-56 mob giving 52kish

Yeah, I hear ya.

That's really why I made this thread. Sure, my equipment isn't top-notch, and I'm not the best slayer by any length of the imagination, but I knew that there was a huge difference in mob health.

And honestly, doubling mob health doesn't make the game any more challenging. It just makes it take longer.

But I just tested the exp. You probably killed a double-pull mob, and that's what gave you the gimped exp.

Single pull level 52 mobs give 42,000

moment i hit the 50's zone, my experience with tera went from Fun to frustrating.

The repeating bosses and Bams don't really help either. So idk what the KR dev's were thinking when they decided that repeating the same Bams and bosses 10 times from lv 30-55, in both dungeons and open world pve would be a good idea....

and now theres a spike in mob hp.... sure it makes it a bit harder, but it creates frustration more than fun.......

Bluehole could learn a thing or two from Dark Souls or Demon Souls.... they need to learn how to design REAL big [filtered] monsters...

I honestly wouldn't mind, so long as they had enough quests to cover their ridiculous experience spike.

I'm just barely able to scrape by my levels with the quests they provide. If the 54 quests give me 3/4ths of my level, I'll be surprised.

Elenea is probably the roughest leveling zone in the game. Everything suddenly takes longer to kill, does a good chunk more damage, and is much more annoying to fight. (Hyenas and those spamming Vulcan things mostly.) Once you hit 55 it's better, but you likely get there at the tail-end of 53 or start of 54. This area was pretty much the only place I had to treat normal mobs like BAMs as far as dodging and avoidance. Thankfully, once you finish up elenea, the rest of the game is smooth sailing for leveling. Habere gives ridiculous experience and the mobs in 58+ zones are a joke thanks in large part to the welfare t12 from quests.

I'd highly suggest looking for a leveling partner as soon as you touch down in Elenea. It will make things significantly easier on you. Not to mention that group leveling is the fastest way to level anyway.
