Aion died cause they killed the PvP. Anyway, OP needs TL;DR cause as soon as i started reading retarded-ness i had to stop. Long story short, make a char in a PvE and a PvP server if you want PvP now and then, tada. And/Or, Do server transfers, which i'm sure they will make available. For all i know, if you want, you can just make an alt in the PvE server, and once you want to PvP with it, switch it over once it's ready.

I don't know since when PK equal to PVP

You realize that you just tried to state that PK (Player Killing) is not the same as PvP (Player vs Player), right?

Perhaps I'm old, dunno.. PK in mine mind still sound equal to gank lowbyte

PVP = real fight

Thanks for your input.

I played Aion since launch till now. Aion failed due to its RNG mechanics, horrible community, and overall bad PvP design. What I proposed has nothing similar to how Aion work.

If some of the posts relating to PvP can be taken as a representation of Tera's community, then this game is also fast on its way to having a terrible community.

Tera also has RNG mechanics as well. And it also has bad PvP design (both the kTera and current NA build was bad).

Instead of forcing all servers into this model, why not make one server based on this ruleset and see how it goes?

A complete replacement with a completely new and unproven ruleset seems like a far worse idea than keeping it the way it is.

There was a game I tried a few years back. I'd been really anticipating playing for over a year. The devs promised strictly PvE servers. But when the game went live they had stuck PvP enforced zones on the PvE servers. Zones necessary for leveling.

The barely lasted a year before it died (and I quit in less than a week).

As a rule PvE'rs don't tolerate forced PvP. (Note I said "forced". I don't care if you PvP your brains out. Just don't try to force me to.)

What a terrible idea, this is just your way of getting more action in PVE. Get brave and join a PVP server then if youre afraid PVE will be to boring. And how does a mix of pve players and pvpers make for the best server? And im sure there are plenty of pvpers that dont mind crafting if needed. However since it seems (so far anyway) that we dont lose any weapons or armor , that doesnt help the economy tbh. Or the thrill of PVP for me personally.

And most PVE'ers want agreed pvp or GVG , and I disagree with that. Fights/wars are started, not agreed upon thats just silly tbh.(not talking about if its political)

I salute the effort and the constructive nature of the OP's topic of both pegging what he views as a problem and also offering a solution, well done. However, I would not enjoy this type of server and if it were the only option would not purchase the product given this situation and still believe that the best option is PvE, PvP, and RP servers as some populations just don't mix well.

As someone who enjoys PvE, PvP, and RP. I don't really like open world PvP at all as in my view its little more than ganking someone weaker than you, rarely is it a fair fight. I only view PvP as having value when you don't know the outcome ahead of time and in my experience this isn't how open world PvP plays out. This is why I favor battle grounds as its closer to a fair fight and these are only victories worth anything because they're closer to a proper challenge of skill.

This is a horrible idea. This kind of thing is, in fact, the reason Aion failed. You'd be forcing one half the server to engage in a playstyle they strongly dislike to have access to the full game experience, even the full game map. I thought it was ridiculous in Aion that I couldn't visit parts of the map without getting ganked by rifters, whose response was always to "go grind in Beluslan" or whatever the non PK zone was. Your proposal is almost exactly this, and so consistently makes the PvE players second class citizens on the server.

The community in Aion BEGGED the devs to make PvE servers for literally years, and they arrogantly refused. The game population has been on life support as a result; the one time it seemed to be headed back up was when they briefly put in crazybad penalties for rifters, which then started to run them off. The last time I checked, they were sometimes rolling those back, sometimes putting them back on, and as a result pissing both communities off and causing a constant stream of invective on the game boards.

Because PvP and PvE communities have radically different, quite antithetical ideas of what makes a game fun, the only rational thing to do with the PvE and PvP communities is to separate them, which is what Tera does, thankfully.

Your proposal has zero chance of acceptance anyway, so I don't think there's much cause for concern.

Yea.... I don't think so.

PvE and PvP servers are a good idea simply because not everyone wants to deal with the griefing that's ubiquitous across all PK'ing areas.

The only part I bothered to read/acknowledge was that PvE servers need some more PvP. Personally in my experience PvP servers meant you are in PvP/PK mode regardless of whether or not you want to be, i.e. you are fair game. I like the outlaw system, but I also feel the PvE server needs some time of open world PvP as well, it should be optional, not... impossible.

If anything, adding a "custom" Outlaw system for PvE servers wouldn't be a bad idea, or the other option which could be the case already: PvP is disabled by default on PvE servers, but vanarks can enable it in their regions. For all we know En Masse had intended this to begin with, but since there was no official word on it there's no way to be sure.
