Currently my system specs are as followed:

AMD Llano 2.9GHz quad core
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz
GeForce 560Ti 2GB GDDR5
Corsair 120GB SSD

As it stands, i'm very unhappy with my FPS on slider 4 - with disabled shadows and low diming light enabled

I stand around 15-30 FPS, once my skills get moving, I'm tanking to 10-20 FPS.

I understand that TERA is CPU intensive, and the Llano lacks a L3 cache

I was looking into a AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 3.1GHz Socket AM3+ 8 core, and was wondering what folks with a similar CPU were getting (with a similar build)

Honestly, I'd love to throw down for an i5 or i7, but that's just not in my budget =(

Joking aside though I use AMD processors too. I've been told to stay away from 6 and 8 core AMD processors for Tera as they have less power per core and the game can only utilize 2 cores (I think) Some people told me they run the game pretty well with a dual core.

pretty sure the game utilizes at least 4 cores (no more than that).

Interesting thought though on the less power per core though. Anyone out there using the FX-8120 processor able to give some input?

Or able to suggest an AMD processor that has the capability of running TERA on slider 4-5 without getting popo for FPS? :X

I'm using an AMD Phenom II X4 955BE 3.2Ghz quad-core with a Radeon 6970 and I'm held back by my CPU. I was gonna go with a 2500k/2600k which would resolve the issue, but Ivy Bridge is due to drop this month so It's probably best just to wait until IB comes out then either get a IB or a discounted SB 2500k.

I'll definitely be going with a Ivy Bridge, they consume less power, are slightly faster performance wise, but also looking forward to testing out Lucid Virtu MVP which lets the integrated graphics assist your dedicated graphics for improved FPS or VSYNC'n past 60fps without tearring.

I cannot give advice on the FX-8120, I however can provide some info on then AMD FX-4100 3.60 GHz Quad-Core.

I'm running the FX-4100 3.6, 8GB 1600Mhz ram, and the GTX 560TI 2GB vid.

While i haven not check my FPS I can tell you the only time I run into any issues is in CBT5 with the event outside of the city. That was with 50-100+ players and I had all of my settings at max.

Normal game play excluding the CBT5 event my processor would maybe hit 80% across the 4 cores.

Edit: I do 2 monitors and normally run Netflix or something along side of a game which can account for the high CPU %

Fx-4100 is what I use as well. But I have the GTX 550TI cause I'm so cheap. Still I get acceptable framerates in most scenarios outside of Velika.

I start to get frame lag when I'm near a lot of people or during a lot of mobs. It may vary in the area also for me when fighting multiple mobs. It could be my power supply not cranking enough power for my Tera since I have it preset to 6 lol.

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Hexacore
16GB G.Skill Ripjaw X Series DDR3 1600MHz
EVGA GeForce 550Ti 2GB GDDR5 (Have 2 for SLI)
Don't have an SSD
650W Corsair PSU 80 Plus (Upgrading that)

If you really want the i5/i7 and it's out of your budget, I'd really just wait a month or two and see if the price goes down before you upgrade. If you don't have much to spend on upgrades, it's probably smart to wait and invest in something you really want and are sure of its performance.

I hear you. At the time I would have went with a 550TI, but I lucked out and got my 560 for $50 less.
