Just a question on it, for anyone who may have tried it during the beta or what have you.
How would one go about setting it up for use with the PC, especially (obviously) for use with TERA? I've seen some threads mentioning they have been used, but no one specifically mentions the setup for it, or for the xbox controller for that matter.
I did read about a program called MotioninJoy. Is that what is used? Is anything else (programs/hardware) used with it?
If it's an official Sony controller, then you can use MotionJoy, and you basically load emulator drivers, and you setup the button layout, and wah-lah. Works well.
I use an offbrand PS3 controller (Power A Pro Elite PS3 Wired Controller), so Windows 7 sets it up as a default gamepad.
I have been using motion-joy for a few years now, and Tera was the only game that I could not get it to work. THe buttons were mapped incorrectly. Like the X button registered as the Y button or something. I can't figure out where to map the keys for the controller in Tera, or in Motionjoy to fix this. Usually it was not a problem, because every game I have played let you customize the key map for every action. Why couldn't I find it in Tera? I could use some help, I think.
Also, why did Tera only allow me to use R2 and L2, and not R1 and L1? The whole things seemed confusing. I couldn't even drag and drop my skills. I wanted X to dodge, square to do basic attack, and triangle to start my most used skill chain. Then O to continue the chain. I just couldn't figure out how to do this properly. Since the limited time I had with the game, I didn't want to spend it fooling around with the controller. I just think it is a mess right now as it is.
Well, I honestly haven't messed with MotionJoy for Tera yet. I know it won't detect my controller as an "acceptable" device, so I can't use it at all, but I'll try setting my controller up in-game only and see if it works.
Sure I got my PS3 controller to work and it was amazing. I used MotionJoy, made a new custom layout and threw everything to default and it pretty much work perfectly in game. Press the select button in game to edit the controller further. I switched the jump and chain attack button because I didn't want to jump with square and attack with X lol.
I think TERA supports Xbox more then the Ps3 controller so you will have toy with the settings more for the Ps3 to make it work
@ UpcomingDread (it wont let me quote for some reason)
You used a normal ps3 manufactured controller and only motioninjoy to make it work?
Did you have any other programs or was it that simplistic?
Did you have any issues like the other people above said they were having with the PS controller?
Someone suggested Motioninjoy, but didn't care, until this thread says it will make PS3 controllers work. NOW I'm interested. (360 controllers hurt my hands in long sessions of gaming.)
