^^^ RNG in wow doesn't force you to spend 100K on enchanting while some scrub might only spend 10K for the same result

But it could cause you to do the same raid for 3 months while some scrub gets his gear drop first time in.

That being said, I still think the main problem with enchanting as it stands right now is...

The cost of spellbind and alkahest, it's just dumb. Make it 100-150g to spellbind or enchant, 250g+ is just pushing it.

i think part of the problem is that we have a lot of people who have zero experience enchanting, commenting on the issue

any player with a full set of +8 or higher gear knows that the rng system is trash

the bottom line for me is that if its not fixed or at the very least addressed soon, i will be looking elsewhere for my entertainment, as i do not enjoy working my [filtered] off for tens of thousands of gold and then having some stupid random number generator decide that i just dont deserve it, while it gives it first try to some baddie who cant even run a hardmode

the more rng, the less skill involved. this isnt rocket science. figure it out EME.

I only went to +6 on my gear, being a healer that doesn't give any [filtered]s about running instances because I could care less about getting t13 [filtered] I stopped there. AND I can tell you that RNG system in this game is [filtered]. Actually RNG for progression in any game is [filtered]. But this is a problem that will be fixed sometime between never and never.

well considering that we pve for pvp gear in this game, and that theres even more pve ahead (t14 sets in new content, along with raids that give "special items"), im starting to think this game might not be what i thought it was going to be

seriously, was it so hard to just give us a 5v5 arena, with rep to the winner that we can use to buy the pvp gear? i guess that was asking too much, we should be zerging down some laggy mob that most people cant even render to get our pvp gear, thats such a great system.

the arenas themselves were in the client files. the rep and pvp gear is in the client files. but hey, making pvp gear obtainable thru pvp thats just crazytalk...

Other than the incredibly bigoted remark about Korea, OP is quite right. RNG has no place outside of casinos and lotteries.

wait what?

does stating the fact that korea likes rng make me a bigot? :(

In the AMA with Brian Knox, he mentioned that they're seriously looking to go to F2P eventually (as they originally wanted to with the NA release). With the RNG enchanting system as it is, I find it highly likely that they'll introduce a cash item to increase your odds of enchanting (as other games that are F2P use). I'm sure those of you who want the game to continue to be P2P will be against this, but it seems to be the direction they're headed in.

What's funny about it is that the prices are perfectly fair in Korea. Why? Mobs used to drop something around 50k which translates into 5g at 58. I remember I could farm something like 1m or 100g in about 15minutes at level 50. Gold drops were cut to something like 25% of what it was. It helps out a lot with their inflation. A lot of people were sitting on billions or 1m g. You can say it helps for us, but I think it's doing more harm than good at this early stat of the game. Problem is would you want them to increase the price later on? Would that make sense? At the same time we had morons cry about instance matching ruining the community so no more reward or buff. That reward helped out a lot. You could get 3 blue powders out of it saving you 600k/60g at capped dungeons.

Also the old RNG was any item + powder = same percent at least what everyone kept telling me and I could easily reach +6 on my 58 stuff. Problem is you'd go down so often beyond 6 and it was so annoying. I'd prefer the RNG we have now over the one before. Oh yeah. Let's not forget you can save stats. That used to be complete RNG. Imagine getting every stat PvP defense/attack on battlegrounds gear without spellbinds.

If there was no RNG then everything would take longer, inflation, etc etc. What I'd like to hear are real suggestions to change it besides "Why did this baby get his weapon and I didn't?" reply. 100% success rate, in my opinion, isn't a solution.

no, the main issue is the RNG. i'd rather pay 10k gold for every enchant level up from +7 than to do that idiotic lottery that leaves me with absolutely nothing every time.

at least they removed deleveling and added the stat locking, so it is slightly less annoying now.

edit:

i really liked an idea about adding "enchanting experience" to items based on a dice roll where you would eventually go up an enchant level in the end but there would be a slight variation on how fast.
something like there is a maximum "echanting experience" of 30 to a weapon and at every enchant attempt you roll 1w6 dice that adds a bit of experience towards that limit. upon reaching it you gain a guaranteed enchantment level up.

still a bit of rng for the RNG hungry ones, still some variation but far less frustrating with something like a "light at the end of the tunnel", so that you'd know that you WILL be able to progress for sure at a certain point.

I don't think it will be Free to Play in the near future.

Here's the snippet of the question and answer:

Q: F2P?
Knox: "Tough one to start out? The game started development in 2007 when subscription based games were going strong. If we had to go back and do it over again I think we would have tried to find a way to be more 'free to play' than subscription. One baby step we have taken is opening up 7 days trials to get people to try TERA out without an upfront cost.
The complete switch from sub to F2P is something we have been looking at for a while but it takes a good amount of development time to make this change and right now we are focused on getting fun content out."Follow up/clarification by Brian Knox: ""We have a free trial right now but no current plans for free to play."

The last line in that clearly stating that it was a thought, but they currently have no plans to move to such a model.
