Gather 'round kids, let uncle Uchi tell you the story of why Warriors have options.
You see, a long, long time ago, Warriors were tanks. It said so in their skill description. It said so in their mechanics. But you see little boys and girls, people don't like to read. Instead, they saw the two swords that Warriors have and thought to themselves "OH BOY OH GOLLY OH GEE I'M GONNA PLAY A ROGUE!" despite all the little red flags that popped around them. These same little dimwitted folks yelled and complained about how they were cheated and how the class didn't live up to their expectations. During that time, good ol' grampa Bule Hole told them to shut the [filtered] up, because Warriors are tanks.
But the problem was, as tanks, Warriors were inferior to Lancers. You had to put in twice the amount of work as a Lancer, and still be less efficient to your party, because a Warrior dodges to avoid damage, and when you dodge you move. This forces the monsters Mr. Warrior is tanking to also move, pissing off everyone, including players who actually rolled a Warrior to tank. Too add insult to injury, Grandpa Blue Hole then released a few new dungeons, with bosses that were optimized for Lancer tanking, and were pretty much impossible for Warriors to tank ):
This made many Warriors angry. "How could we be tanks when only Lancers can do the dungeons?!" they said. "We can't even bring enough damage to come along as dps!" cried many. Grandpa Blue Hole being in a bind, decided that for the time being, they would buff up Warrior damage, so they could at least be a viable dps, something which most people who rolled Warrior wanted to do. Now Grandpa Blue Hole is working on making sure Warriors can tank. But now, the problem is, all the little dummies who rolled Warriors to be damage dealers can actually do damage, and therefore feel entitlement to their class and complain when they are not the top damage dealers. Instead of being tanks, they want to be a proper damage dealer, a role the class wasn't originally intended to fulfill. This irritates everyone. And so, Grandpa Blue Hole decided to [filtered] it, make them viable tanks as well and label the class a hybrid. After all, they can't take away the damage of class now. That would infuriate the droves of players who rolled a Warrior to become a SUPER LEET ROUG. And Warrior *still* can't tank, making all the crying justified.
And so boys and girls, the moral of the story is: Don't design a class around avoidance when you blatantly design instances with blocking in mind.
