What Endgame is Really Like

Its hilarious that during the lifetime of this thread the game has been updated with a new level 60 instance. Maybe the devs should come on the forums to comfort the trolls instead of you know, developing.

This is the same exact issue all mmos face in their first month. They are assaulted by the same small group of vocal elitists who plow through all the game content in one week and then endlessly complain how there's nothing to do.

The real issue here isn't content. It's elitism. The irony is that the elitists don't actually care about the content itself, they just want an easier way to get the best gear in the game quickly so they can lord it over people. This game compounds this issue by introducing an element of actual video game skill. The elitists are already the best at everything, only better gear could possibly make them a better player.

I remember about a month after RIFT launched there was a similar outcry for end game content. A rep for Trion checked the database and told them that there were very few players at the end-game. Then they came out with what seemed like an endless deluge of new content. People still complained.

I'm not saying the game has no issues, It certainly does, but for a game one month old, there is already a lot of content. Yes I know it was out in Korea.. I guess they don't complain as much over there? The vast majority of players are not even 60 yet. Many people have jobs, school, parenting duties, etc. If you don't, then good for you, but consider the fact that you are a minority. Publishers do not succeed by appealing to the minority. By the time the majority finishes all of the content, there will be new content.

Im having fun in Tera and im not going to quit.

But my 9 friends that i got to play, are most likely going to switch to GW2 when it comes out.

Im glad EME is updating constantly, but they still have a lot more work ahead of them.

Updating contstantly? you mean putting in content from a year + old game from korean that they must translate content from.

Horrible game being made for Koreans then poorly Westernized for our tastes. Everything the OP says is true the game is a failure and wastes all your time with a meaningless grind to do the simplistic dungeons.

EME's idea of updating is adding in content that should have been in the game at launch. It's more so that they're bringing it from a beta state to full release. I mean, there are still no BGs, lol..

The gear grind is worst in many other games. However, I feel Tera does have some room for improvement.

Atm, you have 4 normal and 4 HM gear dropping end game dungeons and the lockouts are not bad and allow for non-stop dungeon running if one wants to do so (unlike games that have day long dungeon lockouts that suck).

In aion, DP for a long time was the only PvE way to get gear, and it had 1/20th the drop rate of Tera dungeons, and you could only run it once (maybe twice) a day if lucky.

So not saying Tera is some horrible end game experience, it is certainly better then other games, but I agree a little less RNG and a little better drop rates would be nice. Might give a normal person time to play alts.

I feel the main problem however isn't the gear drops themselves, but enchanting / luxing / extra bonus locking. It's a silly system to start with. The RNG on getting the bonuses you want is extremely stupid and expensive.

Tera would improve drastically if they removed enchanting from the game all together. Or removed bonus stat RNG.

Each system in itself isn't terrible, but combined makes for a lot of repetitive and boring gear improvements.

No offense but end game in WoW, and SWTOR was pretty much the same damn thing, minus the enchanting.

Run one of three possible raids, over and over until you get the BIS items.
When you're not doing that, you run dailies to get money for repairs and raiding buff food.

Pretty much most modern mmorpgs are the same thing. Grind end game content to get gear to grind more end game content.

Do we need more? Hell yes, but there aren't a lot of alternatives right now. I mean I can quit and go back to SWTOR, but it's really the same thing.

Raiding as the sole form of end game content does suck hard. You just got to find the one that hurts the least.

Not gonna compare the game to WoW but that game has A LOT more endgame content than Tera atm. Tera basically has a few dungeons + rep dailys. WoW has all that plus raids, tons of pvp options, deeper crafting and all kinds of fluff things.

WoW is also much more accessible to casuals, hence why it's the #1 mmo. Tera's starter 60 dungeons have a huge skillcap and scale dramatically over lower level content. They are not casual/pug friendly AT ALL currently.

pug friendly? its not even pug-possible! i havent once got into an instance without getting booted at 140 ilvl. im qing for fane/balders to get the gear i need and i cant... rly sad that i guess i wont be getting any gear kus im not breaking myself to buy all my t12. i might be quitting because of this. so those of u who grief like this, remember that if tera dies, u are part of the reason

If you're bored and already completed all the content in TERA, you play too much. Seriously think about how you spend your time.

Why rush to cap?

You know that you purchased an MMO. These games take time to develop, keep that in mind the next time you purchase one. Enjoy the ride instead of trying to be first. It's a much more pleasant way of playing.

I would also like to add that WoW didn't have that much endgame content when released. Yes all new mmo's compete with those that have been around forever. Give it time. We will never get out of this stupid cycle if people don't see the potential a game has. Always wanting everything NOW is all I read on any newer mmo forum. Not to mention some of the so-called answers to a games problem is really inside of the box.

There is light outside, go see what it is.

So my question is...how many of the people complaining in here and circle jerking over TERA's lack of content have completed all the end game dungeons on hard mode?

Go ahead, I'm listening.

If you have, I'm all ears to your criticism, I'm curious to hear your opinion.

No? Please stop whinging.
