Well I've actually had Windows XP for years & years. The only things I have left to order is the processor & Win 7 64-bit (About $225) ON TOP of pre-ordering the game. But in the next 30 days, I should have all of the items I need to get this new computer build up the way I want it to be & have a yearly subscription to TERA.

I've been waiting to play this game for a couple of years now & I'm pretty excited for it. I'm jealous of all the people who got to try out the first CBT lol

Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I don't mean I've Maxed out my frame rates on BF3. I run BF3 on 1920 X 1080 with everything on ultra and have no issues. You can do some searches youtube for AMD 6870 benchmarks running BF3 with everything on max.

for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoLdUX1EWwM and http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/battlefield-3-graphics-performance,3063-11.html

Not so bad I think. It wouldn't make me rage at my PC :)

I missed the first week of the Closed Beta, so hopefully it'll run on max settings without any issues when I try it next week :)

BF3 requires more than 1gb vram, which a 6870 has = stuttering

BF3 at ultra gets about 20-25 fps on a 6870 with stuttering on a single 6870.

In crossfire 2 6870 get 50-60 fps on ultra but without anti aliasing at all, which makes a big difference.

Maybe we just have different opinions on a game playing at max... but I consider a game playing at less that 40 fps on ultra a little meh...

@Sotetsu:

For longevity's sake, you'll want Windows 7 - a previous poster mentioned because many games are finally starting to take advantage of DX10 and 11, and some are even going to be rolling out able to run DX11.1.

For overall performance and efficiency sake, you'll want to go 64-bit. Think of it this way....

You've got 32 trucks delivering cargo from A to B. at the same time...yeah, they can get there quickly....but what if you had 64 trucks moving?

More and more software developers are starting to take advantage of 64-bit computing, which only means you're computer will run that much faster.

So after I get Win7 64-bit, do you think I should amp up my CPU? Or should my build be perfectly acceptable on High-ish settings after I get Win 7?
