Where is Tera going?

It has been almost 3 months since Tera has come out and lets look at what we have so far.

Battlegrounds have been removed.

We still have to stare at our screen and autoattack/use health pots for 2 hours every day in a 2fps lagfest 3 days a week for pvp gear. That's currently the only way to get useful pvp gear. (which is completely necessary for pvp)

We gained one instance, ToT, bringing the total number of instances to 3.

We have no reason to leave town once we're done getting daily gear, as a result, OW pvp is virtually nonexistant.

Instances are the only way, other than lagxus, to get any form of gear. As a result, those of us with a threshold of grindy pain higher than myself have done the same instances hundreds of times. (I don't care how good an instance is, it's not fun after the 10th run)

And on top of all of this, you want to REDUCE the number of available vanarch spots for PvP vanarch?

Has EME just given up on the PvP servers?

Please EME, Give us Battlegrounds, give us reasons to be in the open world, give us reasons to gvg and pvp, give us a reason to do anything except for log in to afk through nexus or do one of the 3 instances that we've literally done hundreds of times.

Also, if you're going to reduce the number of vanarch spots for pvp, only do it for PvE servers.

Everyone I know is leaving for GW2, by the time Queen of Argonea 2 comes out, it will be too late for half of Valley of Titans. :(

O sweet lord I forgot my favorite part: School Play dialogues between your character and quest giver. Seriously, like sesame street. I can't make this stuff up.

This is why modern MMOs suck. Players now expect the developer to give them all the content and reasons to do anything instead of going out and doing things for themselves. You want a reason to do anything? then make a reason. Go to war with another guild. Get a massive group of people together and go and destroy random monsters just to do it. Make an alt and get to max level by doing zero quests. People need to stop complaining about the game being behind on content, saying the developers need to release huge content patches once every week and instead look at themselves for what they can do.

EDIT: Honestly, the only saving grace to Guild Wars 2 is going to be the fact that it is free to play minus the initial purchase price. A form of game I have dubbed, Pay to Start.

We war and fight all the time on VoT. We have GvG, Deathmatches, even tournaments with a 30k+ winning pot.

And destroy random monsters just to do it? Max level by doing zero quests? If those things make you happy, I won't stop you, but most people don't enjoy mindless grinding.

A good MMO isn't an amusement park where there's nothing to do but pretend that you're doing something.

That is because most people are weened on WoW and WoW clones. You don't want to do more than what the masses consider to be "End Game," then do not come onto the forums claiming the game needs more. The fun is in playing the game. Simply because you have a narrow PoV of what "playing the game" entails, doesn't mean the game lacks content and needs more now. Go out and explore every knook-and-cranny of the game. Go see how many BAMs you can kill without healing. The content is there. YOU are the one who needs to find it. Go find what makes the game fun, do not wait for the developer to make it fun for you.

I havn't even played WoW. And I consider "end game" to be meaningful pvp, though from your responses so far I'm pretty sure you rolled a pve server.

What I am saying is Tera has little end game pvp, and now EME are taking out what little it did have by making it so that there's only one province worth fighting for in vanarch gvg.

I have a narrow idea of what end game is? You bet I do! And so does practically everyone else on my server. I don't play shooters to run around and "make fun for myself" by shooting bottles or something. I don't play DotA or LoL so that I can see how many mindless creeps I can kill. I don't play Tera so I can do an instance 200 times, or destroy random monsters just to do it, or grind the entire game without doing quests. I want to compete in PvP, and there are just no options for me to do that, because EME keeps taking them away.

That's ridiculous. Players are responsible for a lot of bad things that are wrong with the industry, but expecting developers to deliver content is not one of them. Suggesting that players create arbitrary tasks for themselves which don't progress their game in any way is also laughable. It's no better than sitting around twiddling your thumbs to kill time. I really don't see the entertainment value in killing monsters you have likely killed thousands of times before, "just to to do it", unless you have an inhumanly high threshhold for repetitive tasks, are a robot, or are just criminally insane. I will, however, give you the guild war thing. Except there is very little motive for warring. There is no tangible gain from it, really. And players need that sense of progress in order to keep playing, without it, it just feels empty and shallow.

The players pay a fee to play the game. They pay this fee with the assumption that the developers are going to be adding content at a reasonable pace, which, I am sad to say, I do not believe to be the case.

Some people might be okay with it, and that's fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion on whether the level of content is acceptable. It could just be the vocal minority that is complaining, I don't know or care. All I know is that I personally think the state of the game is touch and go right now, and the next couple months will make or break the game.

You want big time PvP, do more world PvP. Wanna know what people on PvP servers on WoW did the many months before BGs came out? They held their own world PvP events JUST TO DO IT. Hillsbrad Foothills was an area in the game that was fought over endlessly with huge 40+ vs 40+ people fighting for the area simply because they wanted to. There was no gain for them. There was no achievement for it, there was no gear to recieve, what they killed and "conquered" did not even remain that way. The people did it just to have fun doing more than nothing.

You dislike the fact that EME has yet to put in something for you to work for, go out and do stuff just to do it. If other people on the server don't want to do it, complain about the community and move servers. A lack of things to do in the game is you not realising what you can do and only looking at what EME is rewarding you for doing.

And you are also complaining about the same things he is. You don't want to go and make your own content and expect EME to give it to you. MMO community today is far too lazy and unimaginative.

Alright, you're talking in circles now. I feel like you're just copy pasting your last post and moving a few sentences around, and your argument is rediculous. I didn't intend to pay to make up my own games. If it was this bad when WoW came out, they're lucky they didn't have to compete with GW2.

If I feel like being imaginitive, there's better things I can do than play an MMO.

You seem to be under the delusion that the entire point of MMOs is to use your imagination and pretend the game is fun.

No, the entire point of an MMO is to play and have fun being in the world that has been created. Simply because you only wish to do things that gives you rewards is no reason to come on here claiming EME needs to give you more. And you can claim I am talking in circles all you want, just like I can claim that you obviously are not even reading the posts. You want to complain that TERA has a lack of content and think and copy-paste MMO such as Guild Wars 2 will bring it down, then do not let the door hit you on the way out. I am sure you will be complaining about the exact same things when you start playing Guild Wars 2 seeing as it will also be a new MMO on the market and be lacking in content. The main difference is that since GW2 is F2P, you can also expect patches to come at a far slower rate.
