Name one instance of a cash shop implementation positively affecting the quality of a game. Every experience I've had with cash shops has been a negative impact on the game. Yes, other MMOs have cash shop, namely WoW. However WoW had a vast amount of content and mounts available to the players before the added a cash shop. Tera has no such freedoms, it was only a month old for NA when they released their cash shop. Hell, even if you based it on KR's release it would still be premature to release a cash shop.

If I looked back about a year from now when CCP announced they would be adding cash shop features to EVE, I am always amazed at the amount of uproar the players were and managed to incite a sort of rebellion in the game by destroyed a lot of ships. CCP decided against focusing on their cash shop and went back to improving their space ship battles. Sure they still released it but not much has been added to the cash shop and the past few expansions have vastly improved the gameplay of the game. Players always have a say in what they want, if people don't like it and leave then they wouldn't have any money to continue developing and running the game. EVE's community, while at times hateful and unrelenting, cares very much about their game and they should be a testament to the customer's power.

EDIT: I'm very much tired of people assuming those that complain about the cash shop can't afford the items. I have plenty of money to spend on them however that is not the point we are making. I don't know why I have to explain this so many times.

But the big thing you are forgetting is the fact that that game is published by NCSoft and there is a large amount of hate for NCSoft here. So no, I do not see TERA losing loads of subs simply because Guild Wars 2 came out. That is the same sort of thinking that too many people had whenever a new MMO came out for WoW. "This MMO is going to destroy WoW." A new MMO launching will not bring the unsubbing. The way the company is running the MMO will bring on the unsubbing. Just look at how many people Blizzard is losing on WoW because of what they are doing to it.

Are you seriously comparing Tera with WoW?

This is delusional, or simply wishful thinking. Fact is, even wow is losing subscriptions. And yes, as someone said, a LOT of the PVP ers in this game will be leaving for GW2. I am not a PVP er by any means, but I can play GvG pretty well. I played all the GW expensions and Loved it to bits. So yes, even I, a PvE er in general, am anticipating the release of Gw2.

Another grouyp of people you will lose are, the players that have a problem with BOTH a subscription...and a cash shop...that have not left yet, because there is no game out there tey want to play, so are playing this til Gw2 comes out.

See there are some people who will see this as a great oppurtunity, to vote with their money.

See from what I have seen of gw2... PvE wise, maybe Tera has them beat, that can be debated.... but Gw also has a Lot of new...unique features that tera Just copy pasted from other MMO's

So you will more than likely also lose the players that like supporting games that introduce new unique gameplay features.... Not everything is " PvE or PvP " dichotomy... there are other groups that will find gw2 interesting enough to try out... and... when you look at the $15 Monthly + Cash shop..as opposed to just paying for the game + cash shop.... Tera may have lost it's last chance to redeem itself... it has basically 2 more months to win over a Lot of dissatisfied customers... and let's Not forget...Blade & Soul, Mists of pandoria..or whatever the hell WoW is releasing.....

EME doesn't even comment on these forums... that is something else people will remember when they start seeing all the other games being released. Absentee Landlords do not add up to contented tenants.

I thkn I considered it, and then I looked at the price. Then I decided to buy the 6mo and a SSD instead. Worked out great.

I went monthly. Can just gold farm and buy a chrono scroll every month.... 3 chrono scrolls is all I will need to buy anyway.
