On a side note, if you play MMORPG's only to PvP, you're playing the wrong genre. True story.

A lot of people LOVE open world pvp.

Perhaps you misunderstood the genre.

Also PvP originated as an MMO term... so I'm a bit confused.

People like you are probably the ones who screamed at me so violently for PKing them while I was leveling. True story.

While off topic, allow me. Hopefully you're not still upset over yesterday...

I said "only to pvp" which is to say, that MMO's tend to involve alot more than just PvP. This is why there is gear, leveling, progression, etc...

There is alot more in Tera to do besides Open World PvP. While the lack of instanced PvP is distressing, if the poster played the game for any other reason other then to just PvP, I'm sure he/she would at least be entertained further, rather then complaining over missing/incomplete content.

If you do not enjoy leveling, gearing, and building a character (The pve aspect of the game) and wish to only PvP, most MMO's are not for you.

(As for your last comment... What an immature assumption. If I was available to be PK'ed, and you did so, then it would naturally be my fault for being available and not running fast enough.)

It honestly doesn't matter. Because the pvp genres are the online FPS games like Call of Duty, the MOBA games like LoL and Dota, the RTS games like Starcraft, and the fighting games like Streetfighter 3. MMOs aren't a real pvp genre, as the focus is always on PVE. Now, with newer games like Planetside and Dust 514, you might see that change. But for now, the MMO genre isn't the proper genre for pvp. It is a side game, nothing more.

PvP is an MMO term developed for MMORPGs just like PvE. While it spread to other genres as a term in games such as MOBAs, Call of Duty is an arena death match multiplayer game.

Once again PvP is an MMO term. It always has been, before mmo's they called things such as RTS fights between players "multiplayer."

You don't understand, many people like a nice balance between the two, and some just love to roam the world or BG's and fight each other using the MMO style battle system with RPG character advancement and gear that might give them an advantage.

Plenty of people play MMO's for the sole purpose of killing other players. It is incredibly fun and has a different feel than other games.

It was a play on words in regards to your immature closing comment. Don't be a hypocrite now.

Also, that opening statement... it was a very nice way of asking "U mad bro" without looking like a troll. Clever.

My point is it doesnt matter who originated the term, as real competition happens in other genres, and it happens in better, more balanced and more rewarding ways.

I hate this thinking. I cant argue against it though. It is the games loss if it wants to base its subscribers on PVE content alone, the competition kinda makes this games PVE look well.... outdated?

If it becomes clear that PvP is truly a side game here, its a loss, for everyone.

You are saying that like there isn't real competition in MMO's with regards to pvp. A lot more strategy and tactics go into MMO play than games such as Call of Duty. RTS is another genre, a war game type fight against players, it's not the same.
And personally defeating someone with a character you developed can be very rewarding as well.

Many MMO's have a heavy PVP focus on end game because many players LOVE the pvp aspect of MMO's while they dislike FPS or RTS.
They grew up loving RPGs, so fighting other players in an RPG setting is what is fun.

Trust me, they are designing GW2 to have primarily a PVP end game with their Keep Combat. WoW still focuses on Battlegrounds and world pvp for a reason.

Players do like MMORPGs for solely pvp purposes, you are deluding yourself if you truly believe MMORPGs are the wrong genre for fighting other players. There is a reason why all the PVP servers on Tera were the ones that were always maxed out at first and still retain the highest population.

I enjoy PVE as well, but PVP is what keeps me playing.

The person who corrected your unfortunate calculation error during your attempt to explain why Tera is "failing" and Vanilla WoW was succesful.

See, we agree on the first part there. I would love some BG's to do inbetween questing, dungeon running, and (in my case) roleplaying. I seem to fit the audience MMO's these days are designed for.

However, I do not believe there is an MMORPG out there that allows someone to "only" kill other players. They aren't designed to, as in most cases you must mostly PvE to level and gear up. Even in the cases of full loot upon death, someone had to PvE to get the gear you are now stealing off their corpse.

So my statement, that if someone is "only" playing to PvP then they are in the wrong genre, is still true.

Trolls are incapable of being clever. Most people will see right through a troll. My statement was not intended to be clever, it was being polite, followed by explaining that perhaps the OP should stick to something more oriented towards his/her preference. PvE is going to be the "main" source of exp, gear, and content for a very long time.
