Why are we zerg pveing for pvp gear?

at first i was thinking, surely this is a joke...

but after doing a few nexus runs for a few weeks now, zerg pveing mobs that barely render in 3fps lagfests with no skill, thought, or tactics involved, i am beginning to think that they just dont want competitive pvp in this game

the client files contain the pvp arenas, the pvp gear, and the agnitor rep. is it really so hard to put those together and give us 5v5 arenas?

lets jump in the wayback machine shall we?
back in 2008, a company named funcom released a game that looked amazing and had a great combat system. however they pushed back the competitive pvp from launch, stating it will be out when they felt it was ready. the game had owpvp, but it was not competitive at all and offered zero rewards. after a month, subs dropped from over a million to less than 500k and i stuck around hoping they would figure it out. next month it dropped to less than 200k, and by that point we had seen everything the game had to offer other than competitive pvp. after the 3rd month the game dropped off to less than 50k subs, and the official consensus of the internet was that funcom failed on epic levels, and no matter what they did to the game after that, nobody was going to give them a second chance.

this starting to sound familiar? it should if you have played tera to endgame.

i like tera but im having a very hard time defending it to my friends who ask "can we pvp for pvp gear" and "are there competitive group v group arenas?"

how do YOU feel about the games pvp?

Because EME doesn't develop the content.

Trying not to sound like "I told you so", but you should've realized that the Korean developer, BH, doesn't really intend this game to be a competitive pvp e-sport. Just the fact that they're unable to create balanced classes really shows this. They just threw in pvp because they thought it would be easy to add and could net them a few more subscribers.

the only reason I will prob play gw2 if I do.. will be for the PvP.. it is not so amazing but.. it is far better than what is offered here so far.

i personally know programmers who could put this together... like i said the content is already IN the client, arenas, pvp gear, rep for the pvp gear, etc

in fact the actual arena system is in place already it was just disabled. the ONLY coding required is adding the rep granted to the winning team, which is like 4 lines of code, and im 100% positive they have a programmer capable of this on their staff at EME.

so your statement is invalid jpsama

As has been expressed, and as I have stated previsouly as well, gotta agree 100% with the OP.

Nexuses are [filtered], no one with half a brain enjoys them, and the fact that they are the only way to get pvp gear is a huge slap in the face. Why did EME even feel the need to put the pvp gear into the game in the first place? Think about it... There is no competitive pvp yet. Some communities have organized DMs, and there are some guilds that make a point of gvg, but none of this needed pvp gear! Much less a bs mechanic to "pve" (or in the majority of cases afk) to get it. In fact, this game hardly needed pvp gear in the first place really...

another question could be added...

would your guild you came to this game with have mostly all quit if they could have been getting competitive arena fights?

mine wouldnt have

but they did quit, because the combination of no pvp arenas and an endgame where players progression is determined by a random number generator

i hope eme figures out that we are not koreans soon

Guarantee it's more than 4 lines of code for any of that.

So your statement is invalid lowbei

are you a programmer? no? i didnt think so

so yeah, your statement is again, invalid

basically it works like this, take current arena system, and add X amount of agnitor rep to the winning side

if you think this requires some epic programmers to pull off, or that they need help from BHS for this, then you just dont know what you are talking about

again, if they need a programmer to help with this (they dont but im willing to humor you), i know someone who would do it in less than a day, for a rather minimal fee.

As much as most people don't want to believe it, EME has no control over this game. They have made barely any changes, and the ones they have made haven't been popular. BHS calls the shots, EME listens.

This is why the above is impossible. And very much why this game is doomed to failure. >50k subscribers in Korea don't lie, and dropping by the thousands every week (documented #'s, Hangame has transparency, EME is cloak and dagger)
