Why can people Praise their own guild?

Why is this possible? Shouldn't praise exist for players who group up with people in a guild, and want to show their appreciation for said guild?

If I see a person help me when I'm about to die while I'm fighting a big [filtered] monster, I'm going to praise his guild. People can see that other people like that guild.

But if everyone can praise their own guild, then praise becomes a meaningless function to the game. Does anyone else agree?

I agree whole-heartedly. At this point, praise is simply a reflection of who has the largest guild, not a measure of whether someone actually liked that guild.

ive seen guilds with only 150 players having much more praise than most guilds with 300 players

You can Praise the Guild each and every single day, so if you get 75-150 to praise the guild each day it builds up very fast...

I did find it weird that I could Praise my guild that I created with my main and Alt... I think its just something they missed and may fix and wipe the Praise at some point when it has a real purpose

Um, the folks you meet out and about in your server?

A guild isn't some insular unit that never interacts with anyone beyond its borders - or at least, it shouldn't be.

It's completely stupid and defeats the entire purpose. Praises should reset every few months and only people outside of your guild should be able to praise it....if you join that guild and praise it before you joined, your praise should not be counted.

Praise on its own is pointless, in my opinion; even if they remove the ability for a guild to praise itself, people can just make 95730375348075340 alts and do the same thing.

Hopefully this won't turn into Maplestory where people get access to items only after having a certain amount of praise/fame.
